AnonD-4340, 18 Aug 2014I didnt get it, how is thickness a disadvantage? Z3C is con... moreI don't care how thick Z3 Compact is as long as it has good speakerphone ( above Z1 Compact ) and they eliminate the plastic coating on Screen-
it should be a good candidate for no compromize Compact.
Probably fine tune the Camera Software and hopefully a strong Battery since it's non removable.
But I applaud Sony for still being the only manufacturer to make a true Mini Flagship-hope this becomes more popular and hope the speakers are great.on.this.

This phone is the same size as the Z1 Compact, except 0.7 mm thinner but it's gonna fit a 4.7" screen instead of a 4.3" screen now!
Can't wait for this to be released.

tk, 14 Aug 2014I am waiting for this phone like for the second coming of c... moreYes. A powerful pocket sized Device.
For me the difference in thickness of 7mm and 10mm, 12mm or more has NOTHING to do with thickness and also weight of 4 ounces versus 6 or 8 ounces has zero importance for me.
Case in point Galaxy Alpha
a potentially great Compact- to achieve 6.7 mm
thickness- we lose SD Card
and stuck with small Battery !? A WTF Design.
Sony Z3 Compact will be another chance if it has better speakerphone, and no plastic over the glass, could remain Compact King-
I would prefer removable Battery as performance of Battery degrades after a few hundred Charges.
Hoping and lobbying for Samsung to do a THICKER BODY Alpha Pro with SD Card and 2500Mah Battery.
Who is pushing for "Thinness" and light weight to be important features ?

Alex, 15 Aug 2014This is probably my next smartphone.
Currently using Galax... moreI didnt get it, how is thickness a disadvantage? Z3C is considerably shorter than Alpha and will therefore be the most pocketable of the two, for sure. The thickest phone i have is 16mm but its the most pocketable of them all, my 2nd smallest is 15mm longer but much slimmer (same width) and is so much bigger in the pocket. In fact, so often i been searching myself when using the small thick one like "ohhh i lost my phone, noo!" but it was always there, its just so hard to find that short fat thing, it disappears in any pocket. Slimness is 99% aesthetics and 0% compactness, and a phone with a cheap looking front and a plastic back doesnt have any aesthetics to uphold anyway.
And then the battery, Lol is all i say.
And finally the display, my current phone has much higher PPI than Alpha but is a serious limiting factor when browsing the web, a 720p Pentile display at that size is just unacceptable for me, if Z3C is not Full HD i will not get it. FHD in 4.6-4.7 inch size was already proven to be perfect with the HTC One M7.
That said, i also wish Z3C would be 32GB expandable.

This is probably my next smartphone.
Currently using Galaxy s3.
The disadvantages here are that it's a bit thick and the only 16gb internal memory.
The galaxy alpha on the other hand is only 6.7 mm and has 32gb internal memory, but 1 huge downside - no sd card, so those 32gb are all you get...

tk, 14 Aug 2014I am waiting for this phone like for the second coming of c... moreMe too, i was so disappointed with the insane length of the iPhone 6, depressive, and then Z3 Compact came and saved me with a full centimeter less length, and probably twice as good battery. I hope they make the Z3c thick enough instead of sacrificing battery capacity. I dont want android again but since its Sony i can stomach it, clean enough with moderate bloat, only need to disable a few google-things to make it acceptable to use.

AnonD-1054, 14 Aug 20144.6 or 4.7 inch is just too large to be considered compact.... moreHahah so only the screen size matters, not the phone size? Ok, i will put a 4 inch display in a T2 Ultra and sell it to you.

I am waiting for this phone like for the second coming of christ. I am so happy that at least one phone brand realized that there is a niche out there, customers who want a powerful phone without needing a backpack to carry it around.

AJ, 09 Aug 2014Seriously, whats the point of releasing a "compact/min... moreMaybe because iPhone has been the standard of mini/compact phones and Apple will start producing phones with 4.70 inches display.
Well this is just my theory.

Seriously, whats the point of releasing a "compact/mini" version with 4.6inch screen? IMO compact/mini phones s'd never be any bigger than 4.3inch, 4inch s'd be the standard.
