I have used Sony phones for 6 years now, and ofcourse, they are now in a much better place compared to their rivals.
This phone is great, I've had it for almost 5 months now and.it's been great.
My previous phone was a z Z2, it was actually good but had the heating issue as well as -what turned out to be a deal breaker for.me

AnonD-111968, 02 Aug 2015To all who complained about easily cracked screen maybe you... moreI was worried about the screen cracking before I bought the phone so I bought a CaseMate. I've dropped the phone at least three times (from around 3ft) and it is still working perfectly.

I've also just received the 5.1 upgrade Over The Air in the UK.

Anonymous, 04 Aug 2015The 20.7 MP camera is the biggest piece of .... The Note 2 ... moreI was also disappointed when I purchased this with high expectations on camera since it has excellent specs but actual photos are blurry. I think its due to poor software optimization where Apple and Samsung excels. But after upgrading to Android 5.1.1 via PC Companion camera gets better compared to 4.4.4. Sony really needs a strong firmware development to leverage their camera hardware.

The 20.7 MP camera is the biggest piece of .... The Note 2 which I had before took much better pics. I actually got this phone, mainly because of the "great camera" to take photos of our babies. But it's an absolute disappointment. The pics are blurry and sh.t, doesn't matter how you set up the camera. Now I am taking pics with my wife's S4 mini which is much better with it's 8 MP.

Speed is good. Battery is amazing (lasted for 2 days). Camera is good. Really recommended.

I paid $600 cash directly to Sony Canada to buy this phone. Hadn't any problems or suffered horror stories others have posted on the web, but there is a little rubber flap seal covering the SIM card slot that would not close. It would not close from day one. Since Sony markets this phone capable of operating underwater it is pretty clear the flap must close. If one does a search on this phone and SIM card flap seal or on the Sony support forum, you will find others with the same problem. The flap is basically hard rubber with a notched rubber tongue that clics into a slot. It's pretty tough and the only other problem I could see would be if the tether broke and you lost the flap. My problem was it simply wouldn't clic shut. I have no intention of filming underwater but I was concerned that one day I could possibly drop it in water and since I paid such a price I would get it fixed under warranty.
I'll try to keep it short but after shipping it to Sony Care I suffered over a month of incompetent hell. Many calls to Support resulted with statements like "didn't receive your phone, can't find your account; Yes we have your phone but don't know the status, call back please , call back again please, again can't find your account or E-mail, who are you sir?" Eventually the repair service leaves a message the flap is not covered under warranty and I would have to pay. So I left a message back with them since that's all I could get was a message machine, stating I would not pay and warranty should cover it. Sony responded by sending an email saying here is the tracking number from Purolator, we have shipped it to you. No explanation of the state of repair. Of course they left out two of the numbers of my home address so I had to do some juggling with Purolator and go pick it up. And Lo and behold it is in the exact state of disrepair as the day I shipped over a month earlier. No explanation either. Out a phone and still paying my cell service. Sony support in other countries seem to honour the warranty regarding this defect but not Sony Canada. Stay away from Sony sold in Canada. Wish they would just give me the $600 back.Stay away from Sony!
Update. I bought a flap seal on Ebay . It wouldn't seal either. I don't fault the seal I bought as it's obvious the female connection on the phone is defective.
