I have it from launch in Europe, first as company phone, then as private. Works very well, minor issues (proximity sensor). Stil quick, being quite heavy user, more accounts, banking, 3 navigations, 70+ apps. Heavy use: one day battery life. Camera could be better (=less JPEG compression). Hoping that it will last few more months/years.

AnonD-746591, 23 Mar 2018Looking to move back to Android and this Sony Xperia Z3 lo... moreHi Jonno,
I still recommend this phone as it is super durable and a good quality piece of kit. I regretted in selling mine on ebay about 2 years ago and just purchased another one from eBay last week.
Currently I am using the Sony Xperia X standard version with the Snapdragon 650 chip. But I can't wait to get the Xperia z3 compact again, mine was £123.99 and is brand new and unlocked.

Have had mine for 2 years, headphone jack has broken twice. Bought bluetooth headphones because the jack is just that bad lol. Otherwise amazing phone.
Saw it's 140 euros in ebay, very worth that price.

I will never buy a Sony again. I used the Sony xperia Z3 compact for 1 year only and it started to have loads of issues. The touch screen started having bad response till it got to a point that I could't do almost anything on it. I had to turn the phone all way around to be able to open what I needed. I could not even turn the phone off as you have to touch the screen for that. I was travelling when it happened and I had to buy another phone on the go as I needed that for maps and other information. The camera is pretty awful too. And the battery got bad after a few months of use. I will never buy sony again.

I've been using it for almost 4 years now, didn't have any problem.. but I'm not a heavy user, just surfing internet, music, photo, sms.. battery is pretty week, have to charge it every day, but u can turn on battery saving modes. what I like the most is the design, back side of glass looks really luxurious.. sa I said no problems for 4 years with connectivity, apps, nothing! but I always had a protective glass on the screen, and silicon case.

Looking to move back to Android and this Sony Xperia Z3 looked a good phone as would be buying second hand. I had for the past year the Nokia Lumia 930 for its camera and been happy with the camera but limited apps. Previously had the Sony Arc (13mp) camera which had a good camera.
So hoping pay just under £100 this will be the correct mobile.
Any other suggestions guys?

Review summary: don't buy! A poor quality phone and Sony does not stand behind its product.
I purchased the Z3 compact as my first foray into the Sony mobile world. At first I was satisfied, the phone is fast, a perfect size and had the illusion of being robustly built. Fast forward a year and a half and the display begins to develop yellowish blemishes at the right edge by the power button. These quickly spread to the entire right side of the screen and the display itself began to lift from the body. Since the phone (also having already been replaced once due to defects) was just over 2 years old Sony refused to make any concessions and now I am stuck with a defective phone which I was only offered to have "repaired at my own cost". Never again Sony!

I have Xperia Z3 Compact from day 1 as it appears on the EU market, still works fine, no issues, just once broke display (my fault), repaired with original one for 85 €.
Heavy user, many apps, accounts, banking, 3 navigations, Nova Launcher, Opera + Chrome, Snapseed, Kindle, ...
Can work whole day (first battery!).
Camera could really be better compared to other similar phones, but I anyhow use Fujifilm X-T10 camera (mirrorless) as I want to have good photos, so not important for me.
Really satisfied with responsiveness and speed of this "old" phone.

Anonymous, 21 Jan 2018Lol, thats what you get from buying a 2ndhand 2014 phone!!!... moreI don't get where he said it was 2nd hand. Although I have never heard of an Xperia phone having that many issues in one phone, although it's possible to be unlucky enough to get a faulty problematic one, but not to write off the all Sony phones. But if it was 2nd hand the question does beg to be answered, (why did that person get rid of phone?). I've been using Xperia phones for years from z1 onwards. And there have been bugs like notification pull down issues experienced in z3 along with WiFi issues. Rather disappointed with that as z3 is awesome.

The Z3 compact was a really nice phone. The size is not gigantic like the most other phones, it still had a headphone jack, it was responsive, very durable, and it did not have any hardware issues in the almost 3 years that I had it. My main issue with the phone is that it only has 16gb internal storage. This is problematic for me who plays multiple mobile games. Even with transfering content to the SD card, I would constantly be within 1gb of full capacity. The battery is another problem. Initially it would only need to be charged once every ~36 hours, but near the end of my time with it I was charging it twice a day. Though this could be due to my increased use of my phone. I still use it as an alarm and to read news when I get up, but I upgraded to the XZ premium which is a massive phone, but has the memory, specs, and functionality that I was looking for.
