Curiousguy25, 21 Feb 2015I have been doing my research for a long time now and I am ... moreThe Z3 compact has excellent specs and is nice to use but......had mine two months before it died. Was repaired by Sony service, died again one week later. Demanded replacement handset. When it arrived the lower flap would not stay in place kept popping out so sent it back. Don't want a replacement and personally, I wouldn't buy another one because of these issues.

I have been doing my research for a long time now and I am still skeptic on buying this phone...some people say its all bs and some say its legit... Just wanted to ask the world...where did you order your z3 compact (site/market)? How long have you owned the device?
I've heard stories about how its because it heats up and cracks when placed on cold surfaces (or quick temp flip) I've heard its because Sony is closing their mobile divison down so they dont give a f . Also ive heard that its just a large batch of defected pieces (from the loose flaps to the weak glass to randomly dying) Really want to own one but not worth if runs risk of cracks (without dropping, bumping etc)
IPhone 4 had both glass and it didn't crack until I dropped it from a high surface.
I admit its a sexy phone but why would Sony do this? I was always the impression that Sony was one of those companies that really put work and artistry
Please help guide a fellow human in the right path, because we all know these corporations won't

Hi,
Could any Z3 Compact owners let me know if it feels slippery, due to its glass surface?
Also, does it feel "too thin"? I hate this obsession manufacturers and some users have for the thinnest phone, ignoring the fact that beyond a certain thinness, the phone becomes difficult to hold or use.
I intend to buy the Z3 Compact and these two are may main, and only, concerns about it.
Thanks in advance!

AnonD-365201, 18 Feb 2015z3 compact or iphone 5s which one is better....I got the Z3c and my best friend got the iPhone 5s. I adviced him to get either that one or the iPhone6 because he has been a loyal iPhone 4 user, so his ecosystem (accessories and apps) are all there. But I have no doubt that my Z3c is superior to both the 5s and the 6, with a few exceptions, particularly daylight photography and sturdiness. But everything else, from battery life, to low-light photography... the Z3 compact beats them easily.
Take your time learning to use Manual mode on the camera and there will be no match.

AnonD-364908, 18 Feb 2015I don't know what warranty are you refering to, but we talk... moreIf I were Sony I would do the same thing coz there are many people who put their phones in water every single effing day then when it switches off while in water they want to go get a free repair. Samsung devices that are waterproof are only the S5 and s5 mini. All xperia Z devices are waterproof. Some people don't even make sure the flaps are tightly closed - if a few drops of water come in a phone especially phones of today the phone is screwed. The first time my Z3 Compact landed in water was when I had a glass of water on the table and I tipped it over with my foot then my phone was covered in water but still worked fine. All I'm saying is I don't blame Sony for being so harsh because many people find the waterproof feature so cool that they bring their phones in the shower then each time they swim they bring the phone in the pool. Just remember that each time your waterproof device enters water the ability of the flaps pushing blocking water is decreased.

Mohd, 17 Feb 2015Very impressive device, great battery live, I've compare it... moreAwesome device indeed. My only advice is .... DO NOT TEST how waterproof it is. There are plenty of factors not mentioned anywhere that can make your phone to sleep forever ... : )
1. Salty water (in Sony's site)
2. Hot/Cold water (nowhere mentioned in what temperature was it tested)
3. Chlorine water (in Sony's site, but you cant really measure the Chlorine amount inside the water)
...
Please enjoy it without getting yourselves into trouble with Sony warranty problems ; )

AnonD-364339, 16 Feb 2015I have my Xperia Z3Compact for 3weeks already and I am impr... moreI don't know what warranty are you refering to, but we talk about Sony ... I love the phone, but when it comes to warranty, you can't rely on Sony.
e.g. The phone is waterproof, but they do not cover damage from water. I know it is because they try to protect themselves from people using this against them, but in the case with this phone, it turns out into a huge problem, as many people decided to tested their phone and seems that it is not as waterproof as on the commercials...
Warranty is supposed to cover any damage caused by faulty phone, and if you have a faulty 'waterproof' phone and it dies from water because of this defect - it should be fixed. Unfortunately Sony is not thinking the same way. They have two options:
1. The phone is tested and it is proven again that it is waterproof - You left the flaps opened.
2. The phone is not waterproof anymore - You didn't use it as per the recommendation, and it lead to dead phone.
In the past I had the same problem with Sony. Bought an Xperia S when it was the first Sony smartphone, and I was happy with it. Then I got the yellow tint which was presented in “small number of units” of this model, and on Sony site you can find that they say:
"Any consumer observing this slight yellow tint on the display of their Xperia S is welcome to contact their local customer service centre and Sony Mobile Communications will resolve this at no cost to the consumer."
When I sent mine for repair, they told me "You dropped the phone, so the warranty is not valid anymore. We can't help you".
My post is not to make people hate Sony or stop buying their devices. They are my favorite brand cause they make awesome devices, but please do not talk about waranty and customer support when we talk about them. That's the main reason brands like Samsung and Apple are far ahead. They sell similar devices in terms of performance, they cost more, but you have the support when you face issues with the purchased device...

awesome phone in terms of performance. no lag. its worth the buy. rarely do i see phones with this size, with this much power. phones now are so big. so finding this phone after so many years of waiting is really nice. the only thing i don't like about it is the spam feature. im a previous samsung user, and i enjoy the fact that i don't need external apps to block text or calls from unknown callers on samsung, with sony, this feature is nowhere to be found. i don't trust the apps on playstores cause some of them are buggy. i used one before and sometimes i have other unblock messages are not getting thru.

I have my Xperia Z3Compact for 3weeks already and I am impressed! I love it...so compact in format yet so powerful, quick and smooth thanks to the great hardware. Also I took a leap of faith in SONY's proven over time dedication for building great quality items and so I have managed to perform safely 3 times a test for my friends of submerging my Z3Compact in a glass of water and play a little with the screen inside the glass. It worked just as promised, but be aware that before each test I have checked if the two ports are closed properly and my Xperia has not yet taken a big drop shock or hit.
The whole range of technologies and settings are just amazing for a compact and identical to a flagship, the screen is great in my opinion, the camera is superb in the manual mode even if you have to make the proper adjustments almost like for a DSLR. The battery is impressive with up to 2 & 1/2 days of proper use or 28h of almost continuous use of Internet, wifi, camera, gaming, walkman both speakers and headphones listening for over 10h, and 5h+ calls & sms(having Stamina active and deactivating it only for gaming and LTE(4G) use). The 4G/LTE is impressively fast and Chrome and YouTube are moving fluently and effortlessly. Playing the latest games shows the power of the hardware installed. The connectivity like mirroring and NFC work amazingly and the sound settings, equaliser, even the microphone noise cancelling all deliver great sound experience as promised and truly impressive for a phone and especially a compact smartphone.
Filming in slow-motion and with the Sony image stabilisation and in 4K are just amazing!
If you have any doubts about getting yourself this Z3Compact as a trusty, dependable technology friend that will help and enjoy you for some time to come I can only say YES, buy one! In my opinion is a great choice, probably the best if you find it at a good price and having also the need for a decent water and shock resistant flagship powerful compact smartphone.
IF you experience PROBLEMS with it, either software or hardware JUST USE THE FREAKING WARRANTY, FOR THE SAKE OF MODERN TIMES we are living in and SAKE OF WARRANTIES OFFERED WORLDWIDE!
