The camera is something you'd find in a mid-ranger. A Galaxy S5 blowed the Z5c out of the water when I was testing it on an ordinary document.
The battery life was OK. Worse than my E4g, but the 810 is taking its toll. 6 and a half to 7 hours when I disabled location and data unless I needed them. I disabled the Sony apps (a lot of comments said that Movie Creator drained battery without even being launched) on my day of purchase. Also, my battery life stayed the same on every update, I haven't experienced any battery drain on Nougat.
The fingerprint sensor, on the other hand, is pure bullshit. If your finger is even slightly greasy, you're better off just unlocking with a PIN/pattern. The first time I set it up it went good for the first week, but as time went on, either my thumb morphed its print, or something with the sensor or the power button went wrong. The biggest problem is that when you set up the fingerprint, it takes 15-20 snaps of your finger, which means you can't unlock the phone in multiple "finger positions" reliably.

Its a shame all vendor are hand in hand in cheating the customers they have flooded the market with 5" mobile until now, from 2018 foldable phone with compact form factor will be released to generate revenue if people start using one mobile set for 5-6 years revenue generation will be minimised mobile vendors are playing with consumers needs viz a viz requirements.

          1. Remove user replaceable battery started by Apple so that handset will not last more than 4-5 years since apple hardware is much better compared to Android hardware therefore handset might last for eternity which apple does not want.
          2. Remove SD card from mobile started by Apple iPhone
          3. All new handsets difficult to repair post Samsung Galaxy S6 including replacing glass which cost 20% of the cost of handset is it really that expensive answer is NO. Since consumers have started repairing handsets for 100$ instead of buying 600$ new handset.
          4. Introducing handsets 5" and above later bendable phones will be realsed which will be under 5" but can be expanded to 6" and above Samsung Galaxy X is an example.

            Guys..there are issues in 7.1.1..

before updating to 7.1.1, I disable stock apps such as Movie creator(must), YouTube, maps, chrome, Play games, calendar, drive, gmail, google, hangouts, lounge, Photos, Smart Connect, and Spotify..

Then I upgraded to 7.1.1 and found no lags at all, working much faster than before.. no heat issues. But the sad part is there are now new features in this update :(

Cons camera on most other phones at the same price are actually a lot faster and clearer in focus and better colour. Very disappointed with the camera.

Also not a fan of Sony messing with Android just slows it down and makes it more complicated.

              Can't wait for new phone

You get clobbered with tax buying from there plus a lot of the listings are really dodgy saying things like "note, this phone is not waterproof and not to be used in water". A quick look at the feedback and most have really bad feedback because they sell sub-standard clones or non-working phones.

I have an E5803 in immaculate condition and the screen is phenomenal! Nougat is smooth as butter. The X only has 1GB RAM more and no 4K recording (even if the Z5C can only do 30mins of it), the screen on the X is highly polished so you "think" its better when it really isn't. the brightness is the same as well as the resolution.

Personally I like the design of the Z5C better than the X with his wasted space across the top/bottom of the screen.

Looking for a refined Z5C replacement in late 2017 or early 2018.

My Z5C is over a year old now and I have never had any significant issues with it. I can feel it's heat i my pocket at times but it has never affected performance. I had used my Z5C in assessing damage of the Super Typhoon Nina in the Philippines and It performed well under heavy rain. I respond to disasters and calamities so I have learned to take good care of my communications & documentation equipment. I have a Sony TX20 (including a Sony NEX6) which is a tough all weather compact camera. But while I always carry the TX20 in rough conditions, my Z5C is the one always in my hand. Good photos, great proven performance!

Glass back cover breaks easy. Phone gets hot even when using light apps. Microphone doesn't work right after some software update months ago, still not fixed!!!
Worst phone I ever bought. Never again, Sony.

Also, the X Compact here in the UK is not very cheap for a mid range phone. Put it this way, the X Compact is selling for pretty much the same price as the Z5 Compact was selling for.
