Anonymous, 04 Sep 2015As much as I love Sony what is the point in 4k exactly? The... moreFamiliar with the term "upscaling"? If you checked out the specs diligently, then you've got your answer.

The 4k will drain the battery fast.
It doesn't matter if you play games or not.
There are lots of activities that require huge amount of GPU power:
-scrolling a web page or any list fast pushes the gpu at 80-100% of maximum power!
-Android OS very rich in animations: from the launcher, status bar, alert windows. Almost everything is animated! And yes; dragging the status bar really fast and repeatedly (+100 times per minute) will drain battery
-Rendering a web page is very gpu intensive (for some seconds).
If you don't believe that you are using the gpu intensively; then go to the developers options and toggle "GPU rendering profile"
For game it will be a total disaster. On a desktop even an nvidia titan x is struggling with 4k (some games with max settings go bellow 30 fps). And the titan x costed 1000$ not 60$ for the entire SoC.
And you don't need 4k. Stare at a Galaxy S4, S5, HTC M8 or any 440 ppi phone. Do you see any pixelation without an magnifying lens?
- You can go as close as the minimal focus distance; you won't see pixels. Closer than that your vision will be blured due to anatomical limits.
I doubt you need 800 ppi.
The camera is actually not that good as it seems:
-Sony equip these cameras with useless flash. In most cases it won't have too much effect at any distance >1 meter. The note 3 could push the flash at more than 2 meters;almost 3.
-High resolution camera=poor low light performance; especially when recording (you will use the same sensor after all. The Galaxy S4 records worse than the S3 due to the sensor resolution). 20 MPx is a printing resolution. If you don't intend to print the pictures; 8Mpx will be enough until the standard desktop display will be 8k.

Its the GPU that handles the screen resolution and graphics NOT the processor. In qualcomm's website it indicates that the Adreno 330 @550MHz can run QHD, and the Adreno 430 @620MHz can handle 4K. http://blog.gsmarena.com/adreno-430-benchmarked-trounces-adreno-330/. As you can see the Adreno 430 trounces the 330.

mas39, 04 Sep 2015C5 Ultra is not a successor for the Z Ultra, maybe you don'... moreYes, but MORE people want devices that they can use single handed. This is the reason why Z1 Compact was a huge success when it was released, even more than Z Ultra. Only minority like you want 6+ Inches 'phone'. Sorry to say but 6.4 inch device can't be called a phablet :/. Phablets are within the 5.5-6.0" range. Looks like Sony ditched Z Ultra series in favour of Z Compact series.

Adreno 418 (G4) running QHD provides same performance as adreno 430 running UHD/4K. Please get your facts right next time.

1)Then there sud b no OEM which sud incoroprate the OIS .dude OIS is hardware feature which is ment to get the image stable even with shaky hands.
2) Its clearly visible that z5 premium has the same pony flashlight i am not expecting a xenon flash light but i think i can atleast expect the powerful duel tone flash which i was expecting from a long time.
3) The bezels are seriously too thick i can still forgive that as it has a very premium design.but still sony cud have done a better job with that as its been too long since the xperia Z.
4) Sd810 is a flagship grade SOC i.e sony had no other option at the moment however as theis phone is water and dust tight it will overheat more while running a resource hungry app or using the phone for a long time even if its underclocked. So that worries me

No 240fps slow motion recording? That's really sad, considering the iPhone 6 has it and it uses a SONY camera chip. Dissappointed

The same thing people said when ... moredude sd801 is one of d coolest CPU.. u cn use it at it's maximum clockspeed. it runs at 2.5ghz n no problem. run 810 at 2.0ghz n see what happens.. specially when u r running a 4k screen.. battery is draining fast n these all increase d heat in no time.. gaming performance of z5 premium will b worst..

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2015No, we don't need another Ultra. Sony released the C5 Ultra... moreC5 Ultra is not a successor for the Z Ultra, maybe you don't want a large phone but there are millions like myself who want a large phablet for all tasks and the Z Ultra was perfect. It would be outrageous if Sony decided to finish the Z Ultra line, it was a very successful device.

Gsmarena found out that the camera is actually 25mp and not 23mp. Sony advertises it that way for the sake of the screen ratio problem. 16:9 and 4:3. We all know what that mean. Our phone have the same problem too. The highest res is always 4:3 but Sony make it 16:9.

mas39, 04 Sep 2015This should have been the Z5 Ultra with 6.4" screen an... moreNo, we don't need another Ultra. Sony released the C5 Ultra. This Z5 Premium is not supposed to be a a Ultra. This, at 5.5", is still a smartphone. Above 5.5" is called phablet. Z Ultra was overkill at 6.4". It was a tablet.
