Well I wasn't in the market for a new phone til last night when my sony k850i took a shit on me and firmware crashed, went to the sony store they couldn't do shit they said, so I went into t-mobile and played with on for about 15 minutes and fell in love with this thing, bought the last one in stock, honestly best phone by far I have owned and I consider it an upgrade from the 5mp cybershot sony ericsson which I am shipping to sony for repairs tomorrow, got off the phone with sony tech support this morning and they said they will be fixing it, so once I get it back the k850i will be for sale and I am keeping this phone, first smart phone I have ever bought since I have never liked the soap bar look but this phone looks nothing short of amazing and is nothing short of amazing in user friendliness and functions, so easy and cheap to mod. Highly recommend anyone who is in the market for a new phone give this thing a try, I got it in the brown color I love it. Only con so far is battery life but like someone else said car chargers were made for this reason.

Wow, I typed a ton more, but it's totally not posted. anyways

Battery Life: with gps off- 12hrs (i'm a heavy txt user)

            3.5mm dongle

App markets has alot of crap-apps that already mimic existing phone functions.

Pros: extremely intuitive, decent microphone, responsive touchscreen, solid build. OS stable (still testing), alot of helpful apps to use (examples: connectbot, anycut, toggle), GPS/Cell tower triangulation. pages load fast (i'm with tmobil)

Cons: Alarm feature is extremely horrible, the slider mechanism is going to break...I can already tell, the micro sd slot is hard to open. camera button is tiny(pressing rollerball also doubles as camera button)/ limited controls on camera, no way to increase volume on music being played, EXTusb

i own it, i have to admit i love it and see a bright future with the android market. the only downfall is the battery but thats what car chargers and laptops are for. it does everything i need and more. the web is fast and easy to nav, also u can browse 4 pages at once. pretty dope. great phone. well worth the money

                    Great phone!
Apps are interesting and are getting better. Initial setup is easiest I have ever started. All you do is log in to your gmail account and you are ready to go. Internal speaker works well even in my convertible. keyboard is a nice asset. Display is responsive with little to no lag depending on app running. Battery works well for day to day use with no recharge necessary. If you need to recharge it takes about 70 minutes.
                    Now the bad,
When you first get phone and try all the new apps you will run the battery down in about 90 minutes.
Some of the apps are lame and most don't measure up to the Apple. Give Android the same amount of time and they will match Iphone.
3G some times is slow and just stops. Need work in this area T-Mobile.
For $179 and 2 year contract it is a good buy.

Hey, how's the battery performance after the update??
Me for one am really looking forward to this phone, the news is - it should be out in India by December or something, lets hope.....
Guys help me out here, please clear these doubts for me...
as per some reviews the phone design is not too comfortable to use...
the battery doesn't last a day
Bluetooth transfer of files can never be made possible as it is not a firmware update but a hradware one..
(these are something i picked up on the internet. i'm yet to see the phone in person)
Also if i ask someone to get me the G1 (without service, the one for $399) from t-mobile (U.S.) would i be able to use it in India????

Thanks a ton for all the help
                        Cheers
                        Sid

You don't have a data plan... then can you access the Android Market? cause I guess you only get access through wi-fi...?

Its long time awaited ... at last good to see the phone out.... Just waiting to catch hold of one. Going by specifications ... hardly anything missing from the competitors ... All in all seems to be a good phone...
