An issue regarding the Wi-Fi connectivity of the Tecno Camon 20 Pro 5G. The device is said to have Dual-band Wi-Fi capability, supporting both the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz bands. However, when attempting to connect to the 5 GHz band on my Wi-Fi router, it does not appear as an option. Only the 2.4 GHz band is visible on the phone.

    Hey RishiGuru, do you think that the Tecno Camon 20 Pro 5G drains a little too fast in battery? Personally, I feel like it is. It just doesn't last long enough for my taste. Is this what we get for having a hot chipset?

The performance is amazing. But I digress for having the Camon 20 Premier just for its cameras as it sells for a significantly more inflated price of ₹30K in India which is ₹10K higher than the base model of Camon 20 Pro. With Premier you lose the 3.5mm audio jack and gain slightly better rear cameras. It does not make sense to me to gun for the 20 Premier as we have much better phones like Nothing Phone 1, Poco F5 etc available in that price bracket.

        However a month back Tecno was pulling some kind of media stunt, and you could exchange any 10 year old phone like my near dead Motorola Moto G and get ₹8.45K($100) off. Mind you I bought the Moto G at ₹10K and is a 3G phone. Add to it ₹2K flat discount on any card, the price of Camon 20 Pro came down to ₹9.55K($115) for the 8/128GB variant. This is insane. I even saw reviews on YouTube where the creator exchanged with slightly newer phones and had Camon 20 Pro for just ₹5K.

        The phone construction is sturdy and does not squeak. It is a solid built plastic phone having premium vegan leather back and looks classy. Obliviously, Tecno have cut corners here and there, like the side plastic frame feels damn cheap and is a fingerprint magnet.

        For the price I paid, it comes with a great 64MP main rear camera and just cannot complain. The 2MP macro and depth sensors are useless though. And I could see Tecno is pushing OTA updates every month and trying to make the camera algorithm better. It will have only one major update to Android 14, and this becomes an added bonus for what I paid.

        Tecno's HiOS software overlay over Android 13 can be found on this phone, with huge customization options. I like most of them but some are of no use. The other thing I noted is there is hardly any 3rd party bloatware pre-installed. Hence no unwanted notifications. On other hand it comes with many 1st party softwares from Tecno itself. You can uninstall or disable most of them. The end result is you get a more cleaner user experience than any Realme or Poco device.

        It comes with a great AMOLED @120Hz refresh display, supports HDR10 and comes with Widevine L1 certification. I am not sure about the display protection but the phone fell once from knee height and it was fine.

        The phone comes with our beloved 3.5mm audio jack and has dedicated microSD card slot. No TWS crap needs to be used here. In my opinion, Tecno has succeeded in making the Camon 20 Premier a truly distinctive product and now its sister the Infinix GT 10 Pro is making waves as a gaming centric alternative.

          no gorilla glass,instead panda glass for lcd protection
          plastic build/plastic frame,they use their own speaker it lacks bass, they use li-ion battery again cheap but reliable

Software support is not that great compared to other competitors. Cameras aren't really good, iOS is only capable on 1080p 30 frames. Main Camera tend to be saturated and unrealistic in some shots. It doesn't have an ultra wide shot. But if you only care about the performance and snappiness of day to day usage, this phone is unmatched in the market as of writing. Played a lot of games using this phone and it's really great. Even multitasking is great.

              I think they had a better model which is the tecno camon premier 20. The premier 20 addresses the lackluster camera performance that the tecno camon 20 pro have. Though the premier 20 cost 20,000+ php, I still think it's still worth it, because of the much better cameras but I only recommend it if you like the design of the phone and want more reliable and capable smartphone camera.

                I don't understand, its processor is near the level of 20k+ midrange phones but why is it just 12k? what's the catch? no gorilla glass or somethin? How's the durability? does its glass shatter immediately?

                              Hi, I have a concern about the Tecno camon 20 pro 5g at the Wi-Fi level, it is specified that the device integrates a Dual-band Wi-Fi (the 2.4 Ghz band and the 5.0 Ghz band) yet I try to connect to the 5 Ghz band of my Wi-Fi box, the band does not display! The phone only displays the 2.4 Ghz band. A help to solve the problem would be really helpful to me, thank you.
