UK getting Samsung I7500 Galaxy through O2 network exclusively

03 September, 2009

O2 seems to have an exclusive deal for the Samsung Galaxy for pretty much all their networks and they already sell the device - at least in Germany, as far as we know. But a today's announcement revealed that the first Android smartphone by Samsung is already on sale though O2 stores and the O2 online store.

O2 UK will be selling the Samsung I7500 Galaxy exclusively in the UK for 4 weeks starting from 31 August 2009. The Galaxy is free on a 45GBP monthly tariff with a 18-month contract.

In case you need a refresher, the first Android smartphone by Samsung is also the thinnest one of all Androids out there. It's got a standard-issue 3.2-inch AMOLED screen with 320 x 480 pixel resolution and there's Wi-Fi and GPS on board. There's a 5 megapixel camera on the back and 8GB of storage available inside (plus a microSD slot).

We've got a preview of an early sample and we sure hope we'd receive a final unit for a full review soon.

£45 per month to get the phone for free, are O2 totally insane ? Good luck on getting a large uptake at that pricepoint.
