Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 receives Marshmallow update

Vlad, 01 June, 2016

Following the release of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for its version of the Galaxy S5 yesterday, Verizon has now started pushing out the newest iteration of Google's mobile operating system to the Galaxy Tab S2 units it's sold. We're talking about the 9.7-inch tablet here, the one which first got the update internationally back in April.

The new software version that Verizon is now rolling out is MMB29K.T817VVRU2BPE1. Of course you'll find all the usual Marshmallow goodies inside, including Doze Mode and App Standby, the new permissions system, and Google Now On Tap. On top of all that, Samsung's tweaked its TouchWiz UI layer in certain places too, so you'll find new animations in Gallery, some new options in its email client, and drawing in Memo.

As usual, the over-the-air rollout of the update is staged, so it may be a few days before it reaches all the Galaxy Tab S2 units sold by Verizon. That said, it is now thankfully on the way.
