I have a Vivo V3Max and comparing it with V5Plus I will call the later a far superior smartphone any given day. This is based on my personal experience with both the phones. Since I got hold of their flagship Vivo X5Max back in 2015, none of their subsequent flagships could impress me in terms of built quality & in-hand feel. I had their X5Pro, V1Max and I sold both of them. Then I got hold of V3Max, a well built phone with promising specs but missing that flagship grade feel.
With V5Plus, better known as X9 in China I am truly heading towards a flagship grade product from Vivo and I confirm V5Plus exudes the same in-hand feel & built quality of X5Max.
I opted for Vivo V5Plus over Xiaomi Mi A1 back in Oct, 2017, due to its excellent software & hardware optimization, great network reception, fast charging, great battery life, very compact size and excellent built quality which comes with every X series phone. And I must admit, I am very happy so far with my V5Plus. As much as my beloved Vivo X5Max.
My friend owns a Xiaomi Mi A1, and the handset has a lot of network issues and frequently looses network connection in the same place I work. My V5Plus on the contrary have excellent signal strength at the same place. Also the voice calls a very loud and clear & so is the speaker.
The main advantage of V5Plus over V3Max is in use of Snapdragon 625 SoC. Though slightly less powerful than Snapdragon 652 found on V3Max, 625 is built on very power efficient 14nm manufacturing process rather than 28nm of 652. Hence 625 cores does not throttle due to heat and saves a lot of battery due to sheer efficiency. The Vivo Funtouch OS experience have improved a lot in V5Plus providing very smooth experience with zero lag. With an even more bigger battery than V3Max, my V5Plus lasts twice as much as V3Max on a single charge. V3Max still runs on older Android Lollipop while V5Plus is on newer Nougat release, so the software experience is much better on V5Plus.
Regarding the dedicated AKM DACs found on current Vivo models, I will say they are passable in terms of a sound quality on audiophile ears. Be it AK4375 or AK4376 all are same and produce warm sound signature with good detailing. Make no mistake they are still superior to the integrated solutions found on other non dedicated DAC phones in terms of layering, instrument separation etc. For serious listening I always revert back to by trusty Vivo X5Max as its mighty ESS Sabre ESS 9018 DAC with Texas Instruments headphone amplifier is simply on another level, I mean the audiophile level sound quality. My Lenovo Vibe X3 also uses the same DAC as found in X5Max and is equivalently good.
You have made a very wise decision with Vivo V5Plus and it is excellent choice at INR 15K bracket. Enjoy!!!

Redmi are releasing new MiUi updates with new Android os for many phones in recent days.what is Vivo doing their i don,'t know ? Where v5 plus strucked at old Funtouch os(with exempting many features,gestures compared to older phones),older Os it seems,which are important to us.

I ordered one V5 plus from Vivo India shop online for INR 14,990/-. The price was for 2 days only and now increased to INR 19,990/-. The phone is quite similar to V3 Max but superior to the subsequent line up like V7, V9 etc. The set is fast and has equipped with good hardware. Funtouch is also smoother. Immediately, I got one update little over 1GB. Somewhere I felt the OS is little old. I work in a multistory building and many handsets disappoint in receiving network signals. V5+ is better in getting signals of all operators. did not notice any qualitative improvement in AKM4376 HiFi DAC over AKM4375, both are 32bit chips. Display is vibrant. metallic body and a good battery of course. Missing USB Type-C & FM Radio (The inlay card mentions FM yes, how ?) In all it is a better deal than Mi Note5 pro.

Anonymous, 03 May 2018Rishi did you bought v9,howz it ?does it work fine or u lef... moreI never buy Vivo phones that belong to their cheap budget oriented all plastic Y series lineup. The Vivo V9, V7+, V7 belongs to their Y series. For example V7+ is Y79 in China.
I always go for their higher end flagship grade X series lineup from China. That's the reason why I got the V5Plus which is indeed X9 in China.
The product quality of V5Plus is just superior to V9. As of now I will rather opt for Oppo F7 than the sub-par V9.

On a single charge the phone lasts for 2 days under moderate usage and almost 1.5 days under heavy usage.
Keep up the good work Vivo & bring to us the Oreo update which already is available in China for V5Plus/ X9.

No matter what the Android version the feature list will be decided by this Vivo skin. New feature like App clone was introduced with Funtouch OS 3.2 while Vivo V5Plus has 3.1 version. Hence it does not have app clone feature. Personally I don't see any need of this feature and you will be able to clone only few apps like Whatsapp or Wechat.
