Antares, 22 Nov 2023I would upgrade to vivo x 100 pro even from an s23 ultra. If this phone is available for less than 1000 USD, then yeah worth it, if not then just NO. This phone is 80% of the X100 Pro+ for ~80% of the price, not THAT great of a value imo. Also, upgrading from one year to the next is the most consumerist thing to me, I feel like we've reached the point where it only makes sense to upgrade at LEAST 2 and ideally 3 years later.

Calvin Elf, 22 Nov 2023should i swicth my s21u to this model ? I wouldn't suggest you to do that, this is only the Pro model, if you can stomach the chinese stuff teething issues, I'd suggest the Pro+ model. That's the real alternative to an Ultra phone, if you don't want that then I'd suggest waiting for Xiaomi or Oppo's Ultra phones, they're gonna have the flagship new sensor and better cameras and additionally, the chipset is gonna be the SD Gen 3. Dimensity made a gamble with the 9300, I don't think it's great for normal folks, it has raw power but less usability. Battery and thermals are most likely to be mid on this phone, even more so than last year. Just look at the X90 Pro vs X90 Pro+'s thermal stability, night and day difference

notafanboy, 24 Nov 2023You're the ones coping by watching your favorite garbo... moreWhat would you say are the best tho? I sometimes really like Xiaomi's Leica Authentic and it's natural, soft presentation but hate the blown out highlights, Vivo's Zeiss Natural and their pretty likable photos with moderate sharpening is appealing and Oppo's slightly Pop-ey and well processed photos attract me as well. I like the iPhone's cameras but the 15's new processing seems a bit artificial in the sense that it seems like it's made up detail. I don't like Huawei or Honor's cameras much because they seem artificial to me, something about their processing, maybe the HDR/exposure stacking or some sort of artifact of computation but it seems WAY TOO CLEAN, like the noise reduction seems fake to me.
P.S. I'd rather have moderate-high amounts of noise with sharp detail than Samsung's paintings, I LOVE zooming in photos and noise allows details to be kept so zooming feels fun, noise reduction and smoothing just removes that stuff.
idk what to say about Google's cams tho, they're just *there*, I like their colour and contrast honestly, but the processing, sharpness, exposure, they just don't hit most of the time for me, they're 10/10 sometimes, 7/10 at others. They feel overprocessed sometimes yet natural at other times.

David 040882, 24 Nov 2023Of course Samsung will always have most of the advantages c... moreSamsung doesn't have the most advantages. They have the most important advantages. Software/Software support, brand recognition, consistency, availability and a wild card (the S pen). I was thinking of switching but all of these just make it hard or damn near impossible to switch. The cameras and speakers on the other phones are so much more intriguing, especially the speakers on Xiaomi flagships. But having an S pen is an amazing perk for when using the desktop mode when browsing, the software is dependable and gets updated regularly, the brand recognition provides great value for me as I feel like money was spent somewhere wisely when people ask about my S22 Ultra and the availability is just way too convenient. Easy to buy, easy to repair and most of all, it gets price cuts due to higher supply. So Samsung phones tend to be cheaper as well most of the time for my country at least

Antares , 25 Nov 2023Even if it didn't have stereo speakers I would upgrade... morewhy would you upgrade from an S23 Ultra to only the X100 Pro? I'm using an S22 Ultra and I would've upgraded to the X90 Pro+ if it were available globally but because it wasn't, I didn't.
I really wish Vivo and Oppo get their availability game up because their phones are amazing now. I still think back to when I considered the X60 Pro+ and the Find X/X2 as more of a wildcard than an actually good alternative. Back then they were only neck and neck with the best, I think that now they are better, BUT AREN'T AVAILABLE 😭😭

Vivo Should have given 5400 mph battery in Iqoo 12 pro instead of Vivo x100 pro. As you know guys Iqoo is for gaming and snapdragon 8 gen 3 in (Iqoo 12 pro) is consuming more power than Mediatek Dimensity 9300 chip in (Vivo x100 pro). other wise both devices are beast.

On Phone Arena
" Today, "X" subscriber Sahil Karoul revealed (via Wccftech) that a CPU Throttling Test that loaded the 8-core CPU with up to 100 threads resulted in the chip throttling performance down by 46%. Each thread is a series of instructions given to the CPU by an app or program. Asking the CPU to handle such a workload put stress on the cores causing them to overheat and throttle. While throttling, one of the core's clock speeds dropped to .60GHz with the remaining cores dropping to 1.20GHz and 1.50GHz. The maximum clock speed for the chip is the 3.25GHz that the Cortex-X4 Prime CPU cores were running at by default."
