Hello guys, the phone finally arrived today. Impressions:
- 0-100% speed is 18-19 minutes
- The camera is unbelievably good, zoom is decent
- No lens issue so far (it's -9°C here)
- Haven't had problems with MiUI, no bugs/glitches/ads
- Only thing I hate is that the adaptive fresh rate never goes to 1 Hz (lowest it can go is 10)

krissy, 26 Jan 2022interesting, i actually never had a phone with such problem... moreYou dont get a point.
Its not problem of humidity in a phone, as humidity just intensifies of level of condensation.
Apple does not have problems like this.
Samsung had only with Note 20 Ultra, as it was crappy exynos 990 overheating next to huge camera module. But they managed to fix it with some of heat shield probably, as the internal desing decisions let them do fix.
On 12 /12 Pro the issue is worse. Because it condensates only then camera is turned on. Not because of fast change of air temp, environment. It condensates because it heats too much and those camera modules are sticked with snapdragon on the same lust. Thats issue of internal component design, a flaw.
And with SD8gen1 heating that much they will let and spread those crappy devices on market. The officials of company even did not accepted that this is a fact!! Xiaomi, you loose reputation from its customers, as it was slowly built during time, but now those bad releases makes it worse..

The phone is expensive, even if compared directly to iPhone 13. You know, I think the better comparison would be iPhone 13 Mini, cuz Xiaomi couldn’t make a smaller screen, noting that it was so tough getting to iPhone 13 size.
The price might seem ‘cheap’ at first. But, after what I’ll tell you, you’ll look at it differently.
iPhone has a high trade in value, not to mention resale value. Xiaomi trade in, say for Mi 8 or Mi 9 is granting you sht money. iPhone X at bare minimum storage configuration grants a lot (I can’t pinpoint where you live, just check it). iPhone ‘ten’, which was like so many years ago. So that to me makes the price about even.
But then, you’ll have to do the comparison. Maybe the only downside will be charging speed for iPhone. But for Xiaomi, you’re paying a premium to experience a lot of bugs, them abandoning the updates to your phone, a lot of quality assurance (like water resistant as example) are not there. Remember, this is a premium phone, I’m labelling it that.
You can experience iOS, don’t worry about China spying or whatever (I know that you are from India). Good selfie camera. Look what those idiots told you, 108 MP and you iPhone stuck on 12MP sht. In the end, Xiaomi themselves admitted it by shoving a 50MP cam into their latest flagships. Sony made all these primary lenses, but Sony placed a triple 12MP configuration of camera into their own Super Costly Flagship like Apple.
If you disagree, it’s fine. I’m sharing my opinions and I hope that you find this helpful.
I need to mention Xiaomi kept raising their prices, they were the ones who were competing with very affordable flagships, but now it’s just done. Don’t support them, no more!

krissy, 26 Jan 2022search the web for "10 iPhone Features Apple ‘Shameles... moreApple copied android, and android copied Apple.
But Xiaomi is on another level. They go on stage, saying they are gonna aim at Apple. This new ‘small screen’ device is directly aimed at iPhone 13. The wallpaper and MIUI as a whole is the UI that ripped off the most out of others.
To exaggerate things, they are basically saying we will be ripping the fk out of Apple.

After all, the camera module would have to be glued to the glass back, making a glass back repair costly and the assembly of the phones slightly more expensive....so on pretty much most of the phones, from all brands, the air trapped inside of the phone has some humidity, as well as the SIM/microSD card slot gives the air acces to the insides of the phone....

Anonymous, 26 Jan 2022Fogging doesn't just happen in this model, it happen i... moreOnly first batch of Note 20 Ultra had fogging lens, that was fixed later. Im not a fan neither sammy neither xiaomi, but Samsung took care of that more seriously, so it happened to only specifica small amount of devices.
With Mi 12 im sure and can bet they wont fix this easily, as this required total redesing of internals to have a shield of heat coming from SD8gen1 to camera module, as they sit on same chip plate and share the thermal solutions. Also not only protective glass is thin over the main lens - its same as other phones, issue is that its made huge to look that camera module a lot bigger (which is a nonsense, because sensor size + lens are almost equal to HMX, GN1 phones).. So the heat coming from nearby processor and camera sensor heating too much + big area of glass equals to ideal conditions for condensation. This happens even if phone is in 0 celsius.. And very noticable then temperature drops to -7 celsius or more, then it fogs on other modules too.. what a shame..
Also, no matter how gradient you will have the temperature, even if device is kept outside for quite a long period, if you start to use camera it will slowly will consensate. Depending on humidity level of surrounding air too. My friend has used extensively testing this phone, I have all info how it does.
So please stop defending xiaomi, they made probably best looking their phone, but at the same time most failed too. And people should be noticed about this.

Fogging doesn't just happen in this model, it happen in other devices as well. Even water resistant Samsung Note 20.
https://www.reddit.com/r/samsung/comments/i9nt1w/galaxy_note_20_ultra_cameras_fogging_anyone_else/
I suspect the camera glass on Xiaomi 12 is too thin, causing rapid change in temperature of internal side of glass, leading to condensation inside the phone. If change in temperature is gradual you will not see condensation.

I rely on proof that this phone is wasted, because of tech issues. Glady I do not own it, but my friend does. He regrets it so much, because the device is flawed of specific failure. Overall very nice design and screen but this is it. Worse than last years models. Do you know that this record audio in 96kbps for videos?? Last year Mi 11 Pro / U did 320kbps as it was with Mi 10 Series. I do not want to mention fogging lens, what a shame..

This fogging lens issue is technical design flaw, Ive been in smartphone business for more than 12 years, tested many devices, no issues until this one. Fail!

Are the -9ºC even within the official operating temperature? If they are, that's very damn near the edge where Li-Ion batteries start losing charge and develop permanent damage.
