I almost made a mistake to buy this phone, then I remembered that Xiaomi will always be Xiaomi. I'm glad I didn't.

I've been using this phone for over a year now, and I have to say while not perfect is definitely a good phone. Compact, feels good in hand, great screen. Also to mention that I use it very intensively becouse I'm a salesman.

Hi! I wonder if anyone can help me. Sorry, I don't speak English very well. I don't understand much about how cameras on smartphones work. I used to have a POCO F2 PRO and I just loved the pictures it took in portrait mode. They were perfect to me. I used it primarily to take pictures of my little daughter and every picture was amazing. Then it broke and I decided to get a Xiaomi 12x, based on very positive reviews here on gsmarena and the fact that it wasn't as heavy and big as POCO. But when I bought it I was more than disappointed. Images taken with portrait mode are not as good as on Poco. Well, they are different phones, of course. But I had high hopes for 12x because of positive reviews and the fact that two phones have similar characteristics. Now, what I don't understand and need help with. With Poco, when I chose portrait mode the subject on the screen got kind of closer. I don't know how to explain it better. This doesn't happen with 12x though. I have no idea what this means. Is this why the portrait pictures on 12x are worse? To make the subject (mostly my daughter) fill the frame, i need to come closer but i have a feeling that then there are distortions on the sides of the image. Like other children's heads appear longer, for example. And my daughter's head looking unproportional. I didn't notice such effect on Poco. So, my question is, what are the possible reasons for the portrait pictures on 12x to be not as good as on poco f2 pro? What are the technical or other differences between the two phones that result in such different quality of images. Thank you.

Mark, 31 Dec 2022Omnivision sensor for front camera is equal quality as sens... moreYou speak nonsense! Omnivision is as good as sony and Samsung when it comes to sensors for mobile phones. A lot of their sensors are praised. Look at the latest Huawei phones. Xiaomi mi 10 ultra etc.

released the same day as the mi 12 but with Android 11 instead of 12, why xiaomi? now its gonna have one less major update. companies like you are making the world a worse place with this kind of decisions.

Probably my next phone after using the Note 9s for over two years. Small but powerful and compact flagship with a beautiful design. Currently costs around $450 for the 8/256 model
