Baasith Amaan, 30 Oct 2023Without card slot how to insert SIM? 🤔🙄i can see you're so dumb, card slot means for memory, not for sim card, be smart please! Nano-SIM and eSIM or Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by)

4800mah on a 4nm chip is more than enough as the chip is supper efficient on top of that the cooling system is crazy on flagships and a cooler battery also keeps charge for longer i don't know why someone is talking of 6000mah that are found on low end phone with 12nm SOCs which use more power to run. you can put this phone head-to-head on a battery drain test with the 6000mah phone and it would still win despite having the smaller battery size.

All companies sell your data the problem is only once its sold to china yet the US also do the same thing using google and the likes. Also how many Xiaomi adverts do you see in the TV or Billboards or even Online very few thus they save on money. Xiaomi also doesnt have many brick and motar locations which help with expenses thus its easy for them to achieve lower prices compared to other brands like samsung who go overboard on adverts.

Played with the camera in store and while the zoom isn't as great as other phones (only 3.2x optical), the color balancing seems to be more true-to-life now (plus for me but i guess it varies person to person).

Didn't really test the processor at all but with it having the snapdragon 8 gen 3 (while everyone else is still on the 8 gen 2), it certainly won't be having any issues.

Both the pro and non-pro have flat screens, so its good for those that like or don't care for curved sides. The black version also has a smoothed matte back; it's really smooth (if a bit slippery) and the matte kind of makes it like grayish but feels nice and isn't prone to fingerprints like the glossy glass-backed ones.

Ravenowl, 30 Oct 2023Btw I am still wondering how they can off-set the cost THIS... moreThe truth is that most phones don't cost that much to manufacture. An iPhone 15 Pro Max that sells for 1200 USD costs (apparently) 560 USD to manufacture. The margin is over 100%. If the company is comfortable with lower margins, they can sell the device for much cheaper. Dropping the margin to 50% would mean you would be able to buy an iPhone 15 Pro Max for just 840 USD.

Of course, the cost of manufacture doesn't reflect the research and development costs, which the company would look to make back. However, for a particular model, these costs can be seen as one-time and the cost can be split amongst the expected unit sales. For the big companies like Apple, Samsung, etc., with how many phones they sell, this plus the cost of manufacture won't even come close to the price we pay for these devices.

Now more specifically to Xiaomi, they have the advantage of being based out of China. Sure Apple also (not as much anymore, but they still do) manufactures phones in China, but they do most if not all of their design work outside of China. The reason they do this is irrelevant; what matters is that it's not Chinese workers designing the iPhone and thus they do not benefit from lower labour costs. Labour cost has been going up slowly in China, but it is still much lower than the US and friends. I don't know if Apple prototypes in China, but prototyping is not cheap nor quick. If I recall correctly, Carl Pei once said he chose to base OnePlus out of Shenzhen because they could order a prototype and have it in office the next day. Time is money, and of course any cost the company incurs developing the product will just be passed onto the consumer.

TLDR: Compared to some other smartphone companies, Xiaomi has a large advantage in the fact that they are based in China. They don't need to sell your data to make money; each phone they sell more than makes up for the R&D and manufacturing cost per unit. The reason we get charged insane prices for tech is because of corporate greed.

Ravenowl, 30 Oct 2023Btw I am still wondering how they can off-set the cost THIS... moreI used Redmi Note 8 pro since its launched, 2018 I believe. I bought the chinese version, as I was in China with the ship. The phone still working excellent ( I am using it as a second phone while onboard ship) except the battery is a bit low performance, which is normal. I am also using Mi PAd 5, chinese version, also no problems. On both I install google applications without any problems (download the apk and install)

IShouldLeaveThisSite, 29 Oct 2023Yeah, 6000mah phones was never a norms anyway, ignore these... moreFor sure, but these same jerk wouldn't comment same thing to Samsung & iPhone where they also did the same thing as Xiaomi (S23U) brain-dead Indeed

Ravenowl, 30 Oct 2023Btw I am still wondering how they can off-set the cost THIS... moreI'm very much curious where did you get your sources of Xiaomi selling user data & such.

Please give me the source/link of such claim because I'm considering of switching to Samsung/iPhone or pixel/fairphone if the claim were true

Btw I am still wondering how they can off-set the cost THIS much just with selling user data and high volume sales. Given how ridiculously cheap those devices are for the specs (like really, we're still in the under 1000 EUR range for an SD Gen 3?), the gap seems extremely large. If only we could install a proper OS onto this, this would be a great option. But let's assume you don't care at all about the spyware, how have you guys fared with Xiaomi devices in the past? I'd imagine they skimp hard on the software, but I have no experience with that brand at all. Does anyone even use Chinese phones for longer than a year or two (being that cheap, they sure seem easy to replace)? Like man, if I could put ANY trust into their software whatsoever, I wouldn't be paying for an overpriced P8P (though that camera is still just top notch, even if the SoC doesn't quite live up the price). If only they'd just make those devices as open as the Pixels are...but I guess that's not in their interest at all.
