I finally bought this phone last month and I should say, the only thing holding this phone back is that the JoyUI is based on MIUI. Other than that, the hardware is fantastic. The speaker is one of thing that you will have a hard time if you have to switch into other smartphones because the speaker is even better than almost any laptops (I should say only fall behind macbooks)
- AR? yes, ARCore and Google VR services are there. Still can't beat iphone with LiDAR
- Thermal? yes it's goddamn hot. You must use phone case to bear with the heat. But it's only hot when you play 3D heavy demanding games like genshin, as for daily usage, there are no sign of hot.
- Bluetooth Audio with low latency mode is there and blackshark gear handles it very well. still a slight delay, but it's already on par with speaker (same 40ms latency). It's just you cant use low latency mode for listening songs, because it's much compressed audio
- Battery drain, yeah it's on meh side. averaging 7 hours on mixed usage. can be all day if just used like a regular phone.
- Video Out, yes and also support touchscreen monitors up to 4K, but for portable monitors, BS5Pro can only handle 1080p when self-powered. Though, no desktop mode unlike Samsung DeX or Redmagic studio.
- Custom ROM and root? this one is hardest. There is a root solution and TWRP, but heck, good luck finding that in blackshark CN forum and download the file. Custom ROM is non-existent at all. Don't flash any GSI to this phone for now.
- ROM is actually on a "fair" stable, with some bugs, but it's like any other custom OS (even Google Pixel still have bugs)

No 3.5mm jack, but boy do they try to shove bluetooth earbuds down your throat.
Again, following a time-honored tradition of creating a problem and selling you the solution, and once, first started by Apple.
This phone is a downgrade fas far as it concerns me, since it has nothing that the Poco F4 GT didn't have already and is missing features that were present in past generations AND that competitors such as ZTE and Asus do have.
Unless you really like JoyUI and save for the Nubia's line up bad software optimization and implementation, I personally see nothing going on for the BS 5 Pro worthwhile enough to chose it over it's competion or even over the BS 4 Pro.

Lenovo legion y90 would be my first choice
Nubia red magic 7s pro be my second choice
Nubia red magic 7 be my third choice
All of there's smartphones have built in fan's and are very powerful with good cooling systems
The Lenovo legion y90 my first choice as it has a SSD storage in the maximum storage amount version of it
That be a huge benefit too gaming performance repressiveness loading times the OS UI & web browser etc
Will probably stay smooth forever in day to day usage because of SSD storage and never slow down
The Nubia red magic 7 or 7s are alternatives
As there very good smartphones also and might be more affordable
There is a Nubia red magic 7s pro is good but it's overpriced
Unless you need the 1tb of storage then it's different
It's best too buy the maximum ram spec versions of the gaming smartphones if possible as the additional ram does help with performance you will benefit from it even so it doesn't show on a benchmarks the Extra ram does make gaming more stable and reliable just run better

And a mobile gamer who has used a handful of different smartphones and played many different games
I recommend you avoid both there's smartphones
Xiaomi not know for having good software and Xiaomi smartphone are known for overheating and throttling and cheap parts
Games like mobile legends have long matches and the games know for overheating smartphones and making smartphones just really hot
The best smartphone for gaming and games like mobile legends is a smartphone with built-in fans from either Nubia or Lenovo

Hi! I'm interested on upgrading my Huawei P30 lite to either Black Shark 5 pro or Xiaomi 12T Pro. My primary concern is just camera and gaming ; Not heavy gaming but MOBA gaming such as Unite or Mobile Legends. Which one is better? I would have choose Huawei still but they don't support google apps like they used to. I appreciate your insight.

Dor, 15 Aug 2022Guys please instead of fighting about the Xiaomi brand give... moreI'll give you an honest feedback about your comment buddy. I have owned a Poco, Redmi, Blackshark 5Pro now, and Redmagic 6S Pro last year, Rog 3 way back.
For the lowend Xiaomi devices from Poco and Redmi they're awesome! MIUI might come with some "bugs" as others might say, but, MIUI is top3 launchers currently due to its awesome features.
Rog 3- Mine's motherboard after a year got burnt due to Asus' poor design.
Redmagic 6Pro- its a good one, but jeez, not even a single update was provided by Redmagic and its one hell buggy gaming phone.
And about my Blackshark 5Pro? ITS THE BEST GAMING PHONE I HAD SO FAR. Thermal issues about the 8Gen1? Hmm I didnt experienced this much. The heat emitted by the phone is transferred to the frame which is metal. And if you're using Ludicrous mode, its recommended to use a cooling fan in case.

BATTERY: 4/5 (has bypass charging/120W charging super fast!)
HARDWARE: AWESOMELY BUILT 5/5
