Xiaomi launches Snapdragon 625-powered Redmi Note 4

Prasad, 19 January 2017

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 4 in India. The phone will be available in three variants: 2GB RAM with 32GB storage for INR 9,999 ($146), 3GB RAM with 32GB storage for INR 10,999 ($161), and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage for INR 12,999 ($190).

The Redmi Note 4 has an aluminum metal back with 2.5D curved glass. On the front is a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD. On the inside is the 14nm FinFET Snapdragon 625, which is a step down in terms of performance over the Snapdragon 650 used on the Redmi Note 3 but the smaller fabrication process makes it more power efficient, and Xiaomi claims a 25% increase in battery life over the Redmi Note 3, coupled with the slightly larger 4100mAh battery (but still no fast charging). This is the global launch of the Snapdragon variant, as the model launched in China comes with a MediaTek Helio X20.

The camera on the back is 13 megapixels with phase detection autofocus and 5 megapixels on the front. There's also dual SIM support with VoLTE. The phone runs on MIUI 8 with Android Marshmallow and the Nougat update is currently in beta testing.

The Redmi Note 4 will go on sale on January 23 12:00PM on Mi.com and Flipkart. It will be available in gold, dark gray, and black.
