awesome phone got it from flipkart using it for two days. Feels premium in hand but you need flip cover or something to handle it. update was smooth on wife. was using note 2 but this is much better than Samsung crap.

There are so many bugs in the phone with first released version this wi-fi problem is one of them I think. Download the update from the forum and flashed it in.

To create MI account, please do it online on browser, instead of signing up from App. I also faced same issue and created account through my laptop browser by going to MI website.

If you play continuously for more than hour, it will heat up slightly. You want notice it while playing, but when you put it in your pocket you will feel that.
But if you put it in jeans you wont notice anything. Laptop/Computer all radiates heat and so this phone so its not a fault with phone. Also you wont get any phone in this range which could play high memory intensive gaming apps without any lag. You will love playing games on this.

Normally In this range you will always get android phones which are sluggish and with average display, but this phone is good in both aspects. I have installed Asphalt 8 game which is of 1.5GB size and could play it without any issue.
What you may not like is its very big, but it all depends on person to person. If its not urgent you can wait for 2-3 months see all reviews and then decide.

Hardware:
You get a revised/customized version of Snapdragon 800, which is the 2013/2014 top performance chipset. The CPUs are quad-core Krait 400 clocked at 2.36GHz (slightly higher than regular Snapdragon 800 which are clocked at 2.26GHz). Its performance is just slightly below the 2014's upgraded Snapdragon 801, around 10% difference. For the GPU it's an Adreno 330 which is clocked at 578MHz same as Snapdragon 801, hence the graphic performance is roughly the same. No 4G support on this chipset though.
Camera:
IMX135 BSI censor 13MP camera. It is not spectacular, but it's more than enough if you're just a casual camera user. Under daylight the camera is ok, but under lowlight the camera is a bit lousy with quite a bit of noises. You definitely can't compare this to IMX214 stacked CMOS sensor camera (found on 1+1, Mi4). Front camera is 2MP, which is also so-so, not too bad not too good. If you're a hardcore camera user you might want to reconsider as Mi3's camera might not satisfy you (Mi4 brings a huge improvement in camera though if you wish to wait).
MIUI:
The default is on Stable ROM which is updated in longer interval (weeks or month(s)). You can flash the Developer ROM which is updated more often (weekly, every Friday). Google store is installed in Stable international ROM by default. In developer ROM it's not installed by default but you can flash the GApps yourself, for some works. It's a bit of ios-like, which it has no app drawer. If you didn't like this you can download custom launcher from Google store. UI is smooth and lot of customization/settings/themes. For those who complain their RAM, MIUI utilize the RAM to ensure smooth UI WHEN YOU ARE NOT ON INTENSIVE APPS. It'll automatically allocate more RAM to your games or other intensive apps so no worry on that. Remember one thing : unused RAM is wasted RAM. Ask yourself this question : would you want your computer with 16GB RAM installed to have 12GB free all the time?
Design-wise, a bit of Lumia-like. It's plastic if not wrong with metallic finish. Interior is alloy frame for strength and graphite layer for cooling. The feel on your hand is not bad, for me, but it's SUBJECTED TO PERSONAL PREFERENCE.
Heating up when gaming is usual for Snapdragon 800 series since it's powerful, your Samsung branded phone also heats up. If you want a cool phone go get a lower performance phone (like Moto G).
No memory card support is a downside. 16GB version has around 13GB+ usable memory (others are used up by the system). You can get an OTG drive if you needed more space. I recommend Sandisk Ultra Dual USB drive, branded, good performance and reliability.
Conclusion : Mi3 focus is on its hardware. For the price of 1/2 or even 1/3 compared to other phones, you get a flagship device's performance. The other competitor I can think of which has similar performance-price ratio is Nubia Z7 Mini but its availability is less.
OF COURSE IT HAS ITS DOWNSIDES, BUT WHAT CAN YOU COMPLAIN FOR IT'S PRICE AND PERFORMANCE?

Just bought a new Xiaomi mi3 handset from flipkart.
After switching it on and connecting it to wifi it said there is an update available, I clicked on update and it started the download of MIUI KXDMIBE18.0 (Stable).
But the download does not complete.. the size of file is 619.8 MB and after an hour or so it downloads around 2 MB and just does not progresses.
Wifi and other things seem to work fine.. I have downloaded many apps from google play store and accessed internet.
It is just this MIUI update download that does not seem to work.
Also, I tried registering/signing-up for MIUI accound but it always say some error occurred.
Any help regarding this is appreciated.

Hi I ordered the phone on 29th July Sale and recieved it on 1st august.
Its been a day of use and its working awesome. fast and superb.
