Played with Mi4 yesterday, for SD 801 the performance is very smooth, menu's / option's are great. MIUI is great (no glitches, no lag).

Go to a mobile shop (that has working handsets) and view the menu's / option's on iphone, samsung s6 and s7, huawei P8 and G8, Mi4 and Mi5. Speak to friends / family / people in your city that have Mi5 and decide for yourself.

I had a look at Mi 4 (released September 2015), the menu's on it blow the apple and samsung away (even has voice recording). Perhaps go look at the phone and play with it before judging it (I won't comment on quality or durability - can only comment if I owned it).

Yeah, I wonder why nexus only available via internet purchase - one of the best phones ever made, why local suppliers don't sell them is puzzling me.
Why mostly iphone, samsung, huawei ?

Verizon Wireless, for example, uses 1XRTT for all of your voice calls and LTE for data. This used to be why Verizon phones couldn't simultaneously use voice and data. Verizon found a way around this with dual-radio deployments, but with VoLTE there'd be no need for that.
GSM users on AT&T and T-Mobile haven't had this issue because their voice and data streams can be processed by the same radio.

The best is to go to a mobile vendor (shop) and look at the phone yourself (view the menu's etc.) also ask people in your city or town, if 3 out of 10 say the phone is bad but other 7 say it's ok or great, then you have your answer (good phone).

I have just bought mi5 as i was earlier using mi3 and i liked it most so i trusted company and bought mi5. Most imp is that i was looking for VOLTE handset and when i saw mi5 is VOLTE i bought it but later when i insurted jio sim i shocked that it is not supporting VOLTE and when contacted to customer care then they replied to wait for next update version of mi5 . Now only china updated version is available so i have to wait. I think it was my bad decision to buy this one. If i had to use only data i would have prefer other handsets below 15000.

Best is to google the android version you want to update to first (before applying the update), see what they say for your model of phone (Xiaomi Mi 5).

Anonymous, 25 Apr 2016This phone has too many stability problems out of the box f... moreHi Anonymous, I totally agree with you. There is an old saying - you get what you pay for. So if you pay $450 (US) and more, you get a fast, durable, quality phone. If you pay $230 (US) you get a good phone - but don't expect (fast, durable, quality) of a $450 (US) and more phone. Also, remember to add shipping and import duty to price if ordering via website (some websites do this for you, others might not). Even more important: is there a local supplier (who is able to repair) the phone your are ordering from website, does the website provide a warranty for repair or replacement. Spending $300 (US) on a phone that might go faulty after a week with no warranty is NOT wise.

When buying a mobile phone in your country (locally) or from overseas (via website), first wait a few weeks to see if there is anything wrong with phone (network, battery, phone or apps freeze up/hang) prior to applying a new rom (or rooting your phone). If you apply a new rom (or root your phone), the supplier or manufacturer will notice it when returning for repair or replacement, and your warranty will be voided.
