I just buy the Mi 5 with MIUI 7. After reading a lot of comments, I wonder if it's a good idea to upgrade to MIUI 9 before I start to using it. Thanks !

yup using mi5 from almost 1 year ..many of the peoples here facing battery backup issues n all..juz update to miui9..u ll get better battery life actually the best of mi5...m getting 5 hrs of SOT on cntinue web browsing...1 of the most imp thing for music lovers ...when u update to miui9 u ll get incredibly imprvd sound quality and audio output via headphone jack...so music lovers go n updt to miui9 nd feel the world of music in ur hand 😉

my mi5 played a 4K video of 30 minutes. after playing phone was too hot at 43c and battery was 18% with rapid discharging. now phone has a problem. when charging it takes 1 and 30 minutes to full charge. no any heating the phone or charger when charging. what is this issue????

are you sure you are talking about mi5 and miui? miui 8 for mi 5 got only 2 updates ever, after its initial 8.0 first update was 8.1.0- 8.2.2 never released ota, the 2nd update was 8.5.3, how you have got so many little updates? the regular weekly update is only for developer rom (aka, beta rom). Im using mi5 for around 11 months, I had no single problem, not on stable nor on developers rom

How is battery performance on miui 9 ... morei get 3-4 hours, but SOT is not the best way to give you the battery life, screen on time with doing nothing, and sot while playing a game should not be compared together, its you that know how your phones battery is, i do charge my phone almost every 24-36 hours, with my moderate daily use. sometimes i have to charge it even while its on 40% because, i dont want to be stuck on empty battery next day.
for me the miui9 has improved my experience with my mi5, the battery is better now, speed is much improved.

Kindly note that the flagship product of Xiaomi the MI5 has major issues in GPS. After the Andriod ver 7 same majority of the phones started having issues. Even after almost an year Xiaomi has not found a solution . You have to be a software developer and do changes in firmware to get this rectified.
When you call the support desk they ask to do a factory reset which is cumbersome. Even after doing that it does not work. Just type " GPS not working MI " and you will see the complaints from world over . Read the frustration and you will not dare buy MI products.
They are busy only selling and not even bothered to give fixes to existing customers. In today's world service is most important, Companies have collapsed only because of poor service, and hope the CEO Mr. Manu jain takes note of this.
So even if your MI is working today, you never know the compability status when new version of Andriods are launched. So its better to spend more on a reliable brand as it comes out to be cheaper in long run and that too without hassles.
