To answer some questions (not that i'm an expert),
why battery so small?... Uhhm the phone has 'quick charge 4.0', that's a possible 5hrs of charge in 5 MINUTES, do you really need a bigger battery? .. going somewhere, get a power-bank..
Copying the Iphone? ... like the saying goes "there is no need to reinvent the wheel".. there are millions of consumers who don't mind paying less for expensive tech even if it looks like something else..
the notch, I dig it, forget the Iphone hype,on the Mi8 Ex.. this feature actually has a real function now , watch how other manufacturers rush to copy the Mi8 now...
Under screen finger print.. love it!!
I'm not really a fan of black phones but the Mi8 Explorer (& Black Shark) really makes black phones appealing..
Lastly, my only wish is that Xiaomi launches the Mi brand in South Africa directly & not through its current distributor..

AnalyzeThis, 04 Jun 2018I'm beginning to think that this Mi8 is value for money Co... moreI would say clearly MI8 Explorer... For me it's better design, Under Display fingerprint sensor,3D face recognition, more RAM and Rom, more features , especially if you using official Dev rom... you got weekly updates with bugfixes and small features, but feature is feature right? And if you want Vanilla looking android like on Pixels, simply install Pixel theme from store, and Nova Launcher and you have Pure looking Android.

We too uses phone that is IP00 rated and we were drilled in to becareful when using phones near pools or etc. Alot of the tech involved frankly speaking is really a marketing gimmicks that many fall into.

Sadly but surely, many ain't logical enough to see through the tricks but instead following a trend.

In fact, probably 15 yrs ago in Asia, most of the pirated stuff came from China. Maybe it's a culture ?

Imagine urself in the position whereby you can start off sell tech by copying others tech without incurring a Uber high cost on the R&D department.

Yet you already created a brand n products that matches to people who value (I terms of price) differently from the ever increasing ridiculously priced phones.

It will be logical reasoning as it matches other people's needs.

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2018Power efficient doesn't mean we don't need a bigger battery... moreI believe they had their own set of industry standards. That is designing the phone to last at least a day of usage. Imagine why would they want to extend the usage to 2 days whereby it only increases the cost .

They don't have to be the first as tech giants like apple n Samsung or even Huawei don't even start the trend of phone lasting 2 days.

I believe it's all about profit & cost as the competition is stiff Vs sustainability.

why battery so small for such big phones???
