tooagobiao, 27 Aug 2022MIUI 12.5 was the last update, just 27 months after launch ... moreTry to count months again: that is 39 months (when you wrote your review), and it got main system upg also after 3y. Smaller updates are still comming weekly colse to 4 years after its release date. And the phone itself is working still fast and smooth, screen and photos are still on high level. This is a pretty good phone!

I'm thinking of buying this phone, second hand, as a backup phone. Should I? Or are there any alternatives that corresponds to this phone's specs?

Not much of a resale value on it now it's basically for 100 USD if I sell but there's no point with the performance and quality of the phone as it's better than the current midranges which I'll have to spend at least 300 USD on.
So might as well stick to my mi 9 for the next 2 years

tooagobiao, 27 Aug 2022MIUI 12.5 was the last update, just 27 months after launch ... moreI think it might get miui 13 before the end of the year tho since it's not been mentioned in the phones who won't receive any updates.
Most probably it won't get android 12 but it will get miui 13 soon as there's still 1 or 2 bugs that needs fixing and security patch to be updated.

MIUI 12.5 was the last update, just 27 months after launch Mi 9 and it will not receive more updates. Flagship, 500 € and only can be useful for 2 years after release. I will not buy any Xiaomi device anymore.

The other point is fully agree with. Lately I can can barely manage a day with the phone. (although is't 2,5 year old by now)

This wasn't Xiaomi's best for the year. But still have it since it was released, never died on me. Camera is a little bit above so-so. The two complaints of mine are the battery is horrible (ever since I got it) and it's literally stuck on MIUI 12.0.4 on Android 10. Cmon Xiaomi, give me MIUI 13 on Android 11 atleast.

This is probably Xiaomi's worst flagship. Looks so not premium, both front and the back.

The Mi 9T/K20 Pro was evidently the real Xiaomi flagship of 2019, as well as the only worthy release from Xiaomi during that year.

Xiaomi has been killing it ever since the Mi 10 tho.
