Planning to buy this phone in the next month. Just wanted to know if all the issues posted here are really all that bad, or if they have just been exaggerated. Is this phone a worthy buy?

I complained about a defect a month now (offical EU retail unit), had to fight with them for over two weeks, until I finally managed to send the phone back for repair three weeks now. Mind you, in the EU the maximum time to solve a defect covered by warranty is 30 days. They don't care about laws or even their own warranty terms.

Xiaomi's strategy is to simply deny they have to provide any service at all, making you jump through all the hoops until they have no option other than do something. They are infuriating to deal with, pig-headed, and a true copy-paste machine if you ever email their "global service".

Xiaomi eventually acknowledged the fault in my device, not thanks to their "global service" (that still denies everything), and repairing it is going to be another odyssey by itself!

Mine has absolutely no issues so far, bought it on Black Friday (two months ago). I'm still on 8.1 with the november update, I won't update to Pie because it works perfectly as it is (also with Pie you can't use call recorders which is a deal breaker for me).

I'm getting even better battery life than my one year old Galaxy S7 (which had a smaller 5.1" screen and the same 3000mAh capacity). The only things I miss are the microSD slot and the NFC (sometimes I forget my wallet at home with my credit cards, with the S7 I would just use the phone for contactless payments instead).

Mi A2 - Please don't buy. My experience
Batter won't last. Many a times calls get connected but neither party can hear anything. On redialing it works fine. It's the third month of my purchase and the phone is with the service center for the last four days. Reason. Display not working. Four days. Still not fixed.
Brought from the Mi showroom in Burjuman center. Dubai
If you are looking for android one experience, go for Nokia. I brought Nokia 8 for my wife and Nokia 7.1 for my son. Both working perfectly.

6.4" screen with teardrop notch and a small chin (Oneplus 6T-like, considering the Mi A2 was Oneplus 5T like)
Snapdragon 710
64GB/6GB and 128GB/8GB options + microSD slot (even if it's Dual SIM hibrid)
48MP 1/2" sensor at f/1.8 (Xiaomi is already using this module on Redmi Note 7), also a secondary 12MP 2X optical zoom would be nice (as it was with the first Mi A1), the selfie camera is fine as it is
4000mAh battery
NFC of course

And that's all I want from the Mi A3. I'm not asking much, some of these features Xiaomi already has in the midrange segment, a few of them even on other Mi Ax devices (Mi A1 had the 2X optical zoom, the Mi A2 Lite had 4000mAh battery).

Come on Xiaomi, you can do it.

My only concern with this phone is the color. Not a big deal, but the screen needs to be calibrated in order to avoid the purple hue. This is not possible under display settings, so I installed a color adjustment app called Color calibrator, Other than this, phone has no issues. No overheating, brightness is good too. Battery life is also awesome.
