Even their flagship Mi 8 is no longer as compact as it's predecessors, so that's not an option either. The Mi 8 SE should've had these same dimensions to occupy that sort of "mini flagship" spot so it doesn't cannibalize the Mi 8 sales.

SoC should've been at least SD630 (slightly better GPU). This Pro variant is supposed to be better than the regular Redmi 6, so it seems that Xiaomi thinks the SD625 is better than the MTK P22. By extension, they might have unknowingly admitted that Redmi 5 has a better SoC than its successor.
Although this is a relatively compact phone, it's still not really compact. I can't choose to buy over the similarly priced Redmi Note 5 AI with better hardware overall.

I really like the fact that they have made this one a bit smaller, easier to use one-handed. I would have happily paid more for SD 660 though.

we need physical switch to switch off microphone and camera, because facebook just took patent to use phone microphone to spy on us without asking permission? if its true, we need physical switch to switch microphone off.

Is there any difference between the Chinese version and International version of this phone? Currently its only on sale in China and pervious models of Redmi had problems. Did they overcome these in this version?

Its been a while i've seen Today's smartphone combo is MTK+PowerVR because i think its better than MTK+Mali..
I used Lenovo S920 and it was MTK+PowerVR configuration. Its far better for playing games back then.
I wouldn't mind to try this phone when its available on my country's Online Shop.

For some reason Xiaomi thinks this phone is as good as the Redmi Note 5, as both are now CNY 999 on the Chinese mi.com site. (Also, both Redmi 5 Plus and Redmi S2 are now CNY 899).

Leipzig, 27 Jun 2018Compared side by side with Redmi Note 4x, the obvious chang... moreright. but it would be a mistake to just look at the hardware. eg double rear camera. gyro-eis support, portrait mode support with AI on both front and rear camera, dual band wifi support. smaller body but larger screen size. these are extra features.
