    Update: Purchase of Defective MiPad 2 (Windows 10 version) from AliExpress
    Visa has authorized the chargeback. Expect it to be within a couple of business days.

    What started out as being a terrific little 7.9 inch Windows 10 tablet quickly turned into the 7.9 inch tablet from hell. Greatly disappointed! There's a lot like about the MiPad 2 tablet. But any electronic device that can't be relied upon is only good for recycling (i.e. the trash can).

    What's I've been reading online, the problem I've encountered is extremely common. Does it effect 50 percent of the MiPad 2's Android and Windows tablets? Does it effect 75 percent of MiPad 2's tablets? Or does it effect 100 percent of the MiPad 2's tablets?

        AnonD-590178, 27 Sep 2016But how will you get refund if the seal of the product is o... moreHere's a link to VISA's Chargeback Management Guidelines for VISA Merchants. Check out what this document states under Reason Code 53 - Not as Described or Defective Merchandise. The online merchant is responsible for paying for the return of defective or not as described merchandise. The return policies or practices of the seller are irrelevant! VISA's Chargement Guidelines take precedence. Now if the AliExpress refuses to pay for the cost of returning this item this China, which will likely be the case since shipping will cost over $100.00, then I will email VISA directly and request a chargeback. I have done this several times before, so I have the required Chargeback Request Form. What VISA will ask is photo evidence that the item is defective, which I have, and email evidence that the seller has refused to pay for the return of the defective item -- which I should have shortly. Like everything else in life, it's simple, once you know how!

I have ordered the same from AliExpress but I think they don't cancel the order once the seller has shipped the order. I have not received the order till yet but I am emphasising on somehow cancelling the product and getting refund.

            I've been using a MiPad 2 (Windows 10 version), which I purchased from AliExpress, since Sept. 16. It was -- past tense -- working great until yesterday, when it started to turn on, after being completely shut down, all by itself. I did a factory reset, in the hope of correcting this problem. The factory reset fully completed. During the process of reinstalling my software I hit restart. The MiPad 2 shutdown, but now won't boot back up. The only thing working on it right now is the LED battery charging indicator. Otherwise, it appears to be completely bricked. Since I made this purchase using a credit card, I should be able to get a refund. Needless to say, I'm now extremely disappointed with the MiPad 2!!!!

                My MiPad 2 (Windows 10 version) recently updated to Windows 10 version 1607 (build 14393.187). It continues to operate without any problems whatsoever. There have been many complaints about the Windows update function failing in devices using Win8.1 and Win10. I'm actually experiencing this very problem right now with my AsusT100TA, running Win.8.1. Fortunately, I have not encountered any problems with Windows update and the MiPad 2. Note: I can't imagine using the MiPad 2 (Windows 10 version) without a Bluetooth keyboard. I guess this explains why I've yet encounter anyone using a Windows phone!

                  john, 18 Sep 2016Great look but not worth it miui7 no update for 8 Google ... moreAlthough I'm extremely pleased with the performance of my Windows 10 version of the MiPad 2, I have to admit that I'm not too keen on Xiaomi's use of a custom interface for its Android version of this device. Anyone who's used a Nexus tablet after using one made by Samsung can attest to the pleasure of interacting with a clean version of Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It's unfortunate that the MiPad 2 is only available to the North American market via online ordering. I'd like to get my hands on the Android version of the MiPad 2 to see first-hand how Xiaomi's custom user interface performs.

                        Received a MiPad 2, running Windows 10 (Build 1511) a few days ago. The build quality and finish of the MiPad 2 is superb. According to the online reviews I've read, it uses the same retina display IPS panel, manufactured by Sharp, as the iPad mini.
                        It booted up and connected to my Wifi network without a problem. Upon signing into Windows 10 I noticed that I was not able to access the Window desktop -- the screen that displays the Recycle Bin and other short-cuts. After a bit of fiddling I realized that this overlay screen was associated with MiPad 2 being in tablet mode. I turned off tablet mode by going to Setting – System – and moving the Tablet Mode toggle to the off position. Once the tablet mode had been turned off, I had access to a 7.9 inch Windows desktop. Woo-hoo!!!
                        I connected a Logitech M535 Bluetooth mouse and a Logitech K810 Bluetooth keyboard to it. The Bluetooth connection with both devices has been rock solid. With a mouse and a keyboard, the MiPad 2 is essentially an ultra-compact 7.9” Windows 10 notebook.
                        I attached the following peripheral devices, using an OTG USC-C adapter, to see if there were any issues:
                        1) A Canon Lide220 portable scanner;
                        2) A Samsung Ultra-Thin DVD-Writer;
                        3) A 2TB WD 3.5 inch Passport external drive;
                        4) RJ45 Ethernet Adapter & USB 3-Port Hub;
                        5) Various USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 flash drives (i.e. Patriot Rage, SanDisk Extreme, Eaget U66, Kingston DT-SE9);
                        As one would hope, all of the preceding peripheral devices worked perfectly with the MiPad 2.
                        I installed uTorrent on the MiPad2 and tried downloading a movie. The MiPad2 was able to complete the file download at a speed consistent with my desktop computer.
                        I hardwired the MiPad 2 directly to my home network using an Ethernet adapter and an RJ45 cable. The MiPad 2 immediately recognized the hardwire connection and switched from Wifi to the hardwire connection.
                        In installed the following pieces of software upon the MiPad 2:
                        1) Norton AntiVirus;
                        2) MalwareBytes;
                        3) Full version of Microsoft Office;
                        4) iTunes (64-Bit);
                        5) uTorrent;
                        6) AnyBurn burning software;
                        I encountered no problems running any of the preceding software.

                        To sum up, the MiPad2 performed perfectly with every peripheral device it was connected to and with every piece of software I installed upon it.
                        Being only 6.9mm thick and having an aluminum case, the MiPad 2 is a bit slippery to hold. So I would recommend purchasing a silicone case. Sikai sells a silicone case, which is available on AliExpress and eBay, that’s designed specifically for the MiPad 2. The Sikai case fits the MiPad 2 like a glove. Since the silicone used in this Sikai case is only about 1.5mm thick, it adds protection without adding bulk. The Sikai case also has a finely textured finish, which makes the MiPad 2 much easier to hold. I highly recommend this accessory.
                        If you’re interested in a silicone case for the MiPad 2 that provides greater drop protection, search AliExpress or eBay using the terms “rugged” and/or “heavy duty”. There are dual-layer silicone cases available for the MiPad 2 also that have a build-in kickstand.
                        I do have the following quibbles with the MiPad 2:
                        1) It does not have a Micro SD card slot;
                        2) It does not support connection to an external monitor;
                        3) It does not have international warranty coverage. So if you encounter a problem (i.e. battery or screen) with your MiPad 2 a month or so down the road, you’re screwed;
                        All things considered, if you’re in the market for an extremely compact and capable Windows device, then you should give serious consideration to the MiPad 2.
                        Note: If you're interested in a true "tablet" device that you intend to use primarily for games or viewing online media, an Android device or Apple iPad would better fill your needs. Windows is a terrific desktop/laptop/notebook OS, but its available apps are limited in comparison to what's available through Android/Google and Apple.

                              I bought one about a month ago and it is great, I have only had ipads and other android tablets before, and the performance of the mipad 2 is great compared to these.
                              I reflashed it to dual boot to android and Windows 10. Again this was fairly easy and works very well on both OS's.
                              Right now I'm trying to decide if I should just focus on one OS and reflash again or just leave it as it. I am not sure which OS to choose... Both work really well with no real differences, just Windows seems more "formal"...
