1)You can connect external hard disk with help of OTG cable/USB to micro usb cable it will take some time to recognise by mi pad also say failed to connect but try again it will connect without problem :)
2)use data cable if you want to connect with PC.

MI PAD does not support whataap and much more app which are belong to Android Platform
and Most is your given Customer Care number are not Responding. atleast it should Connect
worst Experience with MI
Battery backup also not satisfactory

Hey folks ...I recently bought this super MI Pad ....Was in a lot of confusion which one to buy....compared all others ...DELL HP Samsung ...but this one from MI is a superb offering in this price range. Now I wanna go step by step with all the pros n cons listed below:
PROS: Coming to Pros this MI Pad has a lot in store.
> Awesome display with Resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels (~324 ppi pixel density (equal to iPad mini 2)) and gorilla glass 3 actually gives u a very nice experience for movie, videos and gaming. It supports full HD (1080p) so a very rich experience in viewing your fav stuffs.
> For me 7.9 inches is just a nice size for reading. This size is good for handling. 7 inches is little bit shorter for reading and more than 9 is just too much too handle (This is my personal view) . Both the thumbs fit perfectly well for 7.9 inches and give u a nice experience for typing, playing games and doing your stuffs.
> Latest MIUI-6 interface by the MI is very good and gives u a nice experience (New product contain older version MIUI-5 but as soon as you will connect it with wi-fi it will automaticaly ask for update to the latest MIUI-6). Many complain about MIUI interface being not so user friendly but seriously I don't have any issues regarding it and even found it is to be too gud a interface.
> Camera: Rear-8 MP and front-5MP. Nice one. In this price range you wont find this MP for rear and front. Nice Experience.
> I personally found Sound quality of the speakers very good. A good music listening experience. And also there are sound enhancement options. So you can customize as per your own wish. With a nice in-ear phones u get a gud experience. (MI doesn't provide one with this pad...!!!!!!!! (but that doesn't matter coz who uses a provided one coz all companies provide a cheap one!!!) So you have to buy.)
> PERFORMANE: Here comes to most amazing thing about this Pad. IT IS A BEAST IN THIS CATEGORY. With Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset, Quad-core 2.2 GHz Cortex-A15 CPU and ULP GeForce Kepler (192 cores) GPU this PAD is a top scorer among all others available in the market. It comes with 2GB RAM (not available in othres in this price range and configuration) I am personally very happy with the gaming experience. It just gives a superb performance. Even though running on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) there may be a little problem with memory usage and u may feel it is lagging as it eats up a lot memory for running the device. But there is a "MEMORY OPTIMIZATION" feature available and once u set it on High the problem gets resolved and it works fine.
> Battery back up very good. 6700 mAH battery is long lasting and fit for a heavy use.
> Comes with a wifi connectivity ONLY. No cellular. No 3G Dongle. Cellular connectivity does not matter for me in a Pad. But I personally wanted to have atleast 3G connectivity so that I can have an option to connect to net. A little disappointed in this area. But hey with this price range Its OK!!!!!!!!!!!! You can use your mobile for wifi connectivity through hotspot. So NO BIG DEAL.
> Finish is nice. Back side plastic casing is bit slippery so you have to handle it very carefully (u may feel plastic casing kind a cheap having a thought for iPad mettle finish. But hey!!! look at the price range!!!!!!!!!).
> OTG support is also provided so u can connect ur pendrive and hard disks. OTG cable is not provided with the pad by MI so u have to buy it. (I personally haven't used it as my OTG cable is on the way..!!)
CONS: Now coming to cons i will quickly summerise them (as there aren't many!!!!)
>No Cellular connectivity. No Dongle connectivity. (as already said not cellular but I personally wanted to have 3G connectivity so a little bit problem.) But hey with so many other features its NOT a BIG DEAL.
> A little bit heating problem at the back near camera WHEN IN A HEAVY USE ( and not all the time!!!!) due heavy processors and poor choice of back cover material Plastic which doesn't allow heat to spread all over and causes problem.
>Slippery back cover so have to handle carefully.
> Eats up a lot of RAM but this can be solved by memory optimization feature.
> No headset or ear phones are provided by MI so u have to buy one. ( but for me who uses a provided one!!!!!!!)
> Big capacity battery so takes up a little more not much more time to charge. MI should have provided a faster charging facility.
So FINALLY.... a gud exprience with this MI PAD. recommend it if ur price range is arnd 13K (personal opinion). Till now quite satisfied with the product.

Does it support socia... moreno, it doesnt have those embeded apps that you have said. but of course its supported.
btw, this tab is great for gaming! battery life is superb, if you know how to take care of it properly.

Does it support social media application like BBM, Path, Twitter, Foursquare, Instagram by default install from Google Play Store without installing it manually from .apk files?

Bought this unit last April, and here are some remarks:
- Love the NVidia Tegra choice on this device! It barely crashed for games with high requirements
- Cameras are mediocre, hardly use them though, no complaints
- Additional storage pod up to 128 GB, like it, I can store as many books as I want
- Sound quality? Mediocre, but it's not a pain in your ears anyways
- Battery stamina? Superb! Wait, it's at first! After few months, it seems to give up easily; can't really tell, most of the times I play games with loud speakers on it, it might be the cause of its battery drain
- No GSM connection? Hello, it's only $250 device with magnificent processor & graphic processor! You want GSM? Go for Samsung Tab then, otherwise if GSM connection would add $30 to this unit, I might steer away to Nokia N1
- MiUI is a mess, page arrangements is pain in the neck if you continuously switching between landscape & portrait. Solution: put a launcher! I installed Nova Launcher and Voila! You're headache is gone
- MiUI (virtual) keyboard is also a dead weight here, I put in Google (virtual) keyboard, it didn't get any better. Might need somebody's input on this matter.
Verdict: recommended buy folks, if you're gamers, youtube crawlers or even readers type.
Side Note: still having this "what if I buy" thoughts about Nokia N1 & Nexus 9, but those two haven't landed in Indonesia yet, I'd say go with the next best thing
