To stop the black crush argument, I have Mi Pad 5 for 2 years, and iPad Air 5 for 1 year. By viewing Youtube HDR content and Netflix Dolby Vision content side by side, I can safely say there are no virtually no black crush at all. The only different between the 2 are just the color saturation and black level, the iPad Air 5 is has slight more deeper black. Of course, those are LCD and won't go very until OLED level black, and both also has worse viewing angle than OLED. Without compare side by side, for normal viewing, both are stunning, just need a high quality screen protector that is non-reflective, fingerprint free then you are pretty good to go. The rest might be the individual case, where you should go and get your Mi Pad 5 screen repair or replaced.

For those who don't, they can spend more money to get others tablet equipped with oled screen instead of arguing on the net. You can only get so much from you have paid for, while in this case, it's most definitely a bargain.

I too am using global miui 14 and have used various others versions of miui. Whatever you do, whatever version you are using, the screen has serious black crush issues and the entire tablet screen turns warm on playing hdr content from YouTube. Coming back to the accusation that these issues r exclusive to me, I recommend joining various telegram groups, where real world users share their experience on this tablet and not a single day passes without someone complaining about Xiaomi pad 5's black crush and hdr issues. Many there are using arrow os, miui 14 global, indian, chinese etc. but still black crush has not abandoned them. I don't know the guys commented here are from the brand's side or real world users, but whoever they are, please don't mislead someone to waste their hard earned money! For those who are still planning to buy, i highly recommend checking out the telegram groups and checking the demo unit at a physical store b4 the purchase. These are my 2 cents on the topic. Thank you

The display is very good indeed. Performance is top notch because of the flagship Soc and the battery is also impressive. It'll soon be an year since I purchased this. If anybody wants a stock android experience of using the tablet then the official ArrowOS custom rom is a good option.

The black didn't wash out like you mentioned. It looks fine, yes, fine. Not as fine as AMOLED and not as bad as you mentioned. Everyone's experience is different but that doesn't make yours definitive for this. I'm sorry this happened to you but your experience doesn't apply to everyone, so please refrain from accusing others of lying

The blacks on this tablet are deep and colours are not washed out. Not to mention you can change the colour scheme
I recommend everyone to buy this for media consumption

I got this device since its release and it's just fine I didn't get any issues with software or lag and the screen is good it's almost as good as my phone (poco f5) with amoled screen

The Xiaomi smart pen 2nd generation works well. Smart pen battery lasts a very long time. After waiting for almost a year for smart pen 1 stocks to be available I finally bought this.

This tablets screen contrast ratio is 500:1something where as AMOLED contrast is infinity. I own this model and even I have compared AMOLED with this screen . Colours are decent ...but blacks are like washed out . It even has black crush issues when watching movies with dark scenes . If video tool box is enabled , black crush is solved but, rest of the colours on the screen will look washed out. I WARN EVERYONE NOT TO BUY THIS TABLET FOR MEDIA CONSUMPTION !!!!

user, 03 Jun 2023Never buy older Xiaomi. This device support expires in 2024.Who cares? Even if support expires in 2024, by the time the soft gets old and you need to change it, it'll be 2030 already.
Android will support old software for about 5-6 years before you start encountering issues with apps not working with your version number.
