Anonymous, 26 Aug 2020In some aspects, yes. There are many features the A71 offer... morePoco F2 Pro advantages over the A71:
- Better HDR10+ screen with extensive color customization. The corner curves however are not as good as A71. The Poco F2's display tends to cut off text however (the time at the upper left corner and battery percentage at the right corner). No such issues with A71 due to sharper curvature at the corners and more ample padding of notification area corners.
- Punch hole free display; no wasteful huge black bar at the top like in the A71.
- Bigger battery (4700mAh vs 4500mAh for A71)
- Better rear cameras, (main wideangle camera, ultrawide angle and macro); better rear camera photos (better jpeg colors, sharpness, details, better bokeh simulation, and overall in-camera processing)
- Top of the line flagship processor (SD 865 vs SD 730G)
- Better videos (4K/60fps, 8K 30fps capable)
- Built in IR blaster (a master remote control on your phone)
- Better video controls with manual focus and focus lock, exposure compensation/exposure lock
- Better, more solid/premium build quality
- Faster internal storage (UFS 3.1 vs UFS 2.1 on the A71)
- 5G capable
- Better ported GCam capabilities (due to more developer support and faster processor)
A71 advantages over the Poco F2 Pro:
- OneUI is more mature, more polished and less frustrating to use than MIUI, especially when you have widgets and apps that are supposed to continuously run in the background. They don't get killed in OneUI under OneUI's default settings. In MIUI's default settings, they just stop running after some idle time (you have to dig in and set 3 things for the widgets to stay active and you have to check those apps after every phone reboot to ensure MIUI didn't kill them again). Also, no ads in Samsung's own apps. Also, MIUI forces the user to use its own apps (with ads) over other third party apps. (Even if you repeatedly select another app and set it as default, MIUI doesn't remember it. It will ask everytime.)
- Good old FM radio in one's own regional language/dialect, no internet needed
- Micro sd storage expansion for up to 1TB (soon 2TB) of additional storage for all your media needs (offline Netflix downloads, personal 4K videos, your entire desktop/laptop files, offline encyclopedia, etc.) You never run out of storage and a Lexar/SanDisk 512GB micro sd card is so cheap nowadays. OneUI also allows MICRO SD card ENCRYPTION which MIUI doesn't.
- Better selfie camera with 4K 30fps video recording capability
- Custom color/exposure options for the main rear camera: you can set a user defined saturation, contrast, etc. that the camera will use every photo capture. Not so on the Poco F2 Pro.
- Widevine L1 certification that is not limited to viewing protected content on the phone's screen only. Samsung allows mirroring of offline movie downloads (Ex. Netflix) to TV. With the Poco F2 Pro, the phone crashes with scrambled screen and you need to force reboot. Please don't attempt it as frequent forced reboots can cause internal storage corruption.
- Smart share (wireless mirroring) is more sophisticated, intelligent and seamless on the A71. If you are projecting your phone's full HD video recording to a 16:9 full HD TV, the phone can assume a 16:9 aspect ratio so you get a full screen, full HD mirrored video on your 16:9 TV. With the Poco F2 Pro, you get a windowed video screen with black bars all around in your TV. The reason is because the Poco F2 Pro retains its 20:9 aspect ratio which is not optimum when mirrored on a 16:9 TV.
- Better audio quality on the A71 with Dolby Atmos, with or without equalization.
- Capability to manually select an LTE band to connect to and force the phone to stay with the user selected band or bands. The Poco F2 Pro doesn't allow it or doesn't have this nifty capability.
- Capability to hide the hotspot name (SSID) when tethering your A71's mobile data to your other devices. Other people won't see your hotspot name and consequently ask for your hotspot password.
- Better security with Knox as well as better software support (up to three years of android software security updates as recently announced by Samsung). Also, no lingering issues with possible links to Chinese government backdoors like Huawei.
- Vastly better, more polished multi user support close to stock android. MIUI's second space is so clunky and quirky, I never use it. Not so with my A71 where I can seamlessly switch between multiple users like you do on windows and stock android. It's not limited to a 'Second space' only like in MIUI. With OneUi, you can have complete functionality like having 2 or more phones in one.
Overall, I still choose the Poco F2 Pro as overall winner though. However, the moment Samsung comes up with a punch hole free A71 successor and with added IR blaster (for master remote), I'm leaving the Poco F2 Pro despite the more powerful processor and better camera and video capabilities. There's lots more things to a phone that are important to me other than the camera and processor performance, as most phones nowadays, even midrange ones, have already sufficiently good cameras and are already sufficiently fast for most needs even gaming (except you won't be able to game at the highest settings). Both the processor speed and camera performance are already given in most upper midrange phones that you won't have to worry about them doing bad.
Overall, it's an extensive feature set that's more important to me because they are becoming difficult to get nowadays. Recent phones have become degenerated to the camera centric, game centric and social media centric (Facebook) crowd nowadays which is sad because a smartphone should be the smartest, most versatile thing you own. Removing connectivity (headphone jack, FM radio), storage (micro sd expansion) and convenience options (IR blaster, removable battery) does not make a smartphone a more versatile and useful device. It just becomes degenerated to a glorified Facebook and gaming device that happens to offer call and text.

AnonD-896879, 25 Aug 2020The A71 from SAMSUNG is better than poco In some aspects, yes. There are many features the A71 offers that the Poco doesn't have that the A71 has. In the same way, there are also desirable features the Poco F2 Pro has that the Samsung A71 doesn't have. I have both phones currently. They have practically the same display size. Overall, the Poco F2 Pro wins for me.

AnonD-863866, 24 Aug 2020Bezel top to bottom are not same why?Must you nitpick at every single thing?

AnonD-863866, 24 Aug 2020Bezel top to bottom are not same why?Design limitations. You have cables there that connect the USB port and the amoled display to the motherboard. Manufacturers can increase bezel size at the top for symmetry with the bottom, but they'd rather not as the top bezel is the most visible to the user. It will make the phone look more bezel thick.

Recording the game and using mobile data for the online game at the same time while gaming at the highest settings is adding additional processor load. I wouldn't be surprised if you'll get 70 degrees. But if you really want more efficient cooling than that, then get another phone with snapdragon 865 with better cooling technology than the Poco F2 Pro. Or settle with lower tier processors from Kirin or midrange snapdragon processors. If you believe its abnormal, then have your Poco F2 Pro replaced with another Poco F2 unit. It could be defective.

I don't see it as an extreme task. I understand if it's a gaming session of 5hrs but it's only 1hr in fact it's only 45mins. Other 865 flagship phone doesn't reach 70 degrees celcius. Even kirin 990 ranges only at 55 to 60 degrees and the midrange 720G. I feel that it heats faster than those mentioned above. Even using antutu test once it's temp is 50 degrees while the others ranges only to 40 to 45 degrees.

Im really really tired and i can't seem to decide, should i get the poco or the oneplus nord?
Both 128gb and both 399, the nord has the beautiful oxygen, 90hz, OIS, and better front cameras while the poco has basically everything else better, but im not too sure about MIUI 12, what should i pick and why?
