Anonymous, 17 Jun 2023>> how was the latest update 14.0.4.0 for you all??
... moreNo issue with Android 12 MIUI 14.
Battery life is great since 2020.
Screen looks AMOLED despite being IPS.
Cameras take sharp mages.
No signs of hickups.
Great phone even in 2023.

Anonymous, 15 Jun 2023it's the gorilla glass 5.
anything below gorilla glas... moreMaybe yes for SONY, No for Samsung (at least was quite bad for older S models that I used to own), other than cameras and display being attractive particularly on spec (however, not necessarily highest in quality).
Speaking of Sony, it's so unattractive on spec and expensive (which should be main reason why it's so unpopular), I can't afford buying these devices.
So, I mostly end up with budget phones, and xiaomi devices have been lasting for a long time (except, I dropped mi 9 on street and cracked the back though there was no other damage).
Didn't have good experience with Huawei, I think they use cheap display that cracks easily.

Anonymous, 14 Jun 2023Other than good stuff that most people already talked about... moreit's the gorilla glass 5.
anything below gorilla glass 5 is bad.
flat screens are also less likely to break than rounded edge glass.
oled used to be, and probably still is, more fragile when it comes to drops.
even is the glass has zero scratches or bursts... oled can easily break.
i don't think xiaomi is particularly better quality than other brands. i know nokia used to have REALLY bad quality parts.
sony and samsung are probably some of the best hardware quality wise. unfortunately neither brand barely uses IPS technology anymore, so you get blessed with an oled screen which has a 1/10 chance of causing eyestrain.
i hope samsung starts using its PLS (ips) technology in midrange devices more often. IPS is a technology that should stay until they fix the problem with PWM flickering that oleds have.
so how was the latest update 14.0.4.0 for you all??

Other than good stuff that most people already talked about, I have an impression of Xiaomi phones being tough to break.
It's not that they use high quality material, but it's about how they put parts together, I guess.

Probably, if you are in US, you could get mid range pixel or 2nd hand though that isn't the case here.
O well, that's alright, poco's got good overall spec (other than mid range cameras) anyway.

Security patches? If you are an average phone user, you will not get hacked; you have to be Jeff Bozos to get your phone hacked.
Most of those hacks are of high level attacks, which means somebody pays the hacker a lot of money to do that kind of attacks.
I haven't been too happy about Android update since 11, and 12 is even worse with those bogus icons.
