Debbie, 03 Oct 2022Want to buy this phone
Xiaomi Poco x4 GT user's want... moreUsed this for about a month now. For me, despite being LCD, the display is amazing at indoor settings. You can only tell the difference by comparing it to OLED phone side by side. Even then, for me it's just the black is not as 'deep' enough, but definitely not a dealbreaker.
Of course, using it under direct strong sunlight will be somewhat annoying with its limited brightness level.
Battery life is great, with moderate usage I can easily get 6hrs SOT. So great compared to my old Mi 11. But still can't beat iP13PM (but it's too heavy!)
Price to performance wise, I think this is one of the best currently available. Or at least in where I live.

Also, the Notebookcheck review is up!

Duderinoat, 03 Oct 2022What the f*ck. I thought this phone had full DC dimming. No... moreWhy would you need a dc dimming on an IPS display screen?

I'm headache sensitive and took a punt on the X4 GT pre-review. I haven't noticed any of the issues I have with OLED screens, typically headache/eye strain.
I also own a iPad Mini 5, equally no probs with high frequency flicker under 25% brightness.
So whether I'm low PWM sensitive or just don't get on with OLED I've never been certain.

50 khz is very fast. Maybe it's not even PWM but something else causing it. Still compared to other phones it is a flicker. Hope we can get more detailed measurements

LordSaeed, 09 Oct 2022How many updates does Poco X4 GT get?
Does it take Android 14?Well, it should receive 13 before 14. Maybe you're thinking about MIUI 14?
Anyway, this phone status is very confusing. If you download MIUI Updater app, that supposedly checkes that, it says it will receive MIUI 14 but not Android 13, so it would receive an Android 12 based MIUI 14, which is annoying and weird, since it has been out for just a few months. Only time will say.
I will be very disappointed if it doesn't get Android 13, although the magnificent battery life will make it less painful, I guess 🤦♂️

The electrical current gets less or more, which results in stronger or weaker light. Has nothing to do with PWM tech whatsoever. Hence Xiaomi shouldn't lie and be honest with it instead.

muhib shah, 22 Sep 2022poco x3 series has terrible display Seriously????? i own x3... moreMaybe you're an indoor guy...
No offense, i used to thought that way... LCD or OLED aren't any big deal as long as you don't compare them side by side.
However, i once (LCD) exposes under the sunny day...
My gosh, for a moment i thought the screen couldn't be wake, and it's very annoying that you have to find a shady area just in other to view...
But on the contrary, OLED has no difference between indoor and outdoor at all. Now i understood why OLEDs are so sought after, it isn't always about the luxury but practicality as well. (OLED) It's truly amazing!

Duderinoat, 03 Oct 2022What the f*ck. I thought this phone had full DC dimming. No... moreAll LCD, OLED panels use PWM. Every TV, computer monitor, smartphone screen all employ PWM and have been doing it for decades.
The only question is how low is the PWM frequency. Some people are sensitive below 500Hz(mostly on OLED panels) and some are sensitive even upto 1kHz, but beyond that it shouldn't affect anyone.
Poco X4 GT PWM frequency is 51kHz which is beyond anyone's sensitivity.
So stop worrying about PWM on LCD panels.
