trapper09, 02 Mar 2022Well to be fair, we should not put all the blame to Xiaomi.... more778g may be a downgrade in terms of absolute performance, especially the GPU, but overall it's more of a sidegrade because of higher efficiency, almost same CPU performance and 5g. Given camera sensor improvement its acceptable to use.
But 695 is just way too slow and unacceptable.

And whoever is "cannibalized", the profit ultimately goes to same company. Xiaomi got more important phones which like the upcoming Mi12 series which need more attention so one Poco eating another one is a non issue.

What stopped them using the 870? Or atleast the 778g??? From 860 all the way down to 695!
First they took away the micro sd card, you were silent
Then they took away the headphone jack, you said nothing
Now they taking away yearly processor upgrades, you suddenly wake up and now its out of your hand.
Yes I know x4 pro has headphone jack but I'm describing the overall trend in smartphone business.
The last point especially means that for the first time in smartphone history it's become widespread that buying a newer phone is essentially a downgrade in performance!

It's like complaining a "Smart" TV doesn't have a recent snapdragon 800 series chip.
This phone is not targeted at gamers, it's targeted at people who aren't always near a power outlet and need a fast charge so they can watch a lot of videos, 5 minute charge should give 15% and 15% should give a watch time of over 3 hours.
Sure they shouldn't use the X Pro series name but they are a company and making money is their duty even if it means using misleading marketing like using the widely acclaimed X3 Pro reputation.

Its a downgrade to the poco x3 pro/gt. The good cameras are affected by the processor. :/

If they had gone with a cheap yet sufficient 48MP sensor or something else, and didn't go with Qualcomm for the SoC, (example being the Dimensity 1000 or 1100) it wouldn't have a pricing or performance issue.
Sure the OLED probably isn't as cheap to include as a horrible LCD, but the issues you're trying to bring attention to are mainly due to other factors.

but performance-wise ... moreIt is bad. Due to weak processor the camera is 100% affected it can only process lower quality pictures and it also can't record 4k 30fps videos and to add insult to injury the stabilization is garbage.
Poco X4 Pro:
- Weak Processor
- Camera terrible due to weak 695
- Can't record 4k 30fps videos due to weak 695
- Image stabilization is garbage
- This phone will never be good at gaming because of weak 695
- Plastic frame and the rear is also made of plastic
- Amoled screen is not made the same. It's lower tier than standard amoled screen nowadays
- It's more expensive compared to the X3 Pro's launch price
- The longevity of this phone will be terrible. 2 years from now the X4 Pro's hardware will definitely suffer and you'll experience lags when operating the device even if you install custom ROM. This is because of the weak 695 processor IT'S ALREADY OUTDATED THE DAY IT LAUNCHED

Honestly, if you think about it, this phone exists because it is one of the most logical choices they could make.
It wouldn't be too logical to release a cheaper lcd + sd870 or better, since that would cut into the F3 sale.
It not logical to release a similar more expensive phone, since people will buy last year X3 Pro.
It might be logical to release oled + sd860, but how much more can they charge without people choosing to go with the F3 or X3 Pro?
Not releasing a phone is also not an option, since they don't want to be the only company who didn't release one this year.
So a phone for watching videos or listening to audio with a super fast charging 5 minute charge for 3 hours plus playback and a "large" number 108MP camera for photo, with 5G, makes sense, it's also fast enough for low quality graphic gaming, it ticks all the boxes for the busy average people.
Personally I don't take video with my phone and I don't know anyone who actually does take videos too.

The data is real and objective there is a downward trend with lower class chipsets once OLED started to take over
