It's a great great smartphone. Im so pleased with it.
It's been almost 3 years under my possession, and recently i changed the battery and the back cover.
And it's brand new again!
With 3 gb or ram, and 8core processor, it can do everything!
Congrats to xiaomi!

got mine since 3 years back, never disappoint me, still working well though.
i'm just curious, what will be successor of this 4X?
i mean, would xiaomi produce another phone with this perfect size and higher spec ?

Man oh man. I have used iPhones, Nokia (android), Huawei mate, Asus, and redmi.. boy oh boy. Redmi 4x is easily the most reliable phone that has ever existed. Hats off the Xiaomi for this one cracking amazing phone.
I am now using it for the last 4 years? Still working like it used to be! Battery health tho is now only maybe 70-80% that's normal!
I have dropped this phone countless of time. Even as I am typing this. The screen is broken! But it is still my favourite phone!
The sound is great, battery is AMAZING, size is perfect. Now the hardware? They don't crash, and work as it supposed to be! No ghost mysterious data chunk taken. Which is quite common in iPhones and many other phone. Like you will delete and delete and still no free space. But this doesn't happen to redmi4x. The ram is more than enough for multiple browsing. Running few apps at the same time.
However the camera..that one is a bit joke..it's okay for normal use. But if you want to be fashionable and cool this is not it.
Oh WiFi strength is STRONG. I live on the ground floor, and WiFi is at the top floor..some of my phone can't even get signal..but doesn't happen to my redmi!
Hotspot works great as well, multiple devices can connect without problems..24hrs!
GPS unlike some other phones, it is pretty accurate! VERY accurate.
Speaker, SMS etc contacts easily backed up!
All and all 9/10 or why not 10/10? Could have been better if there is removable battery of this size! Hah! You can read all the comments below why everyone is happy about this phone..

Have been using for 2 years and still a cracking phone. Camera is ok for most use and fact that can be used in one hand and comfortably stored in a pocket a big selling point over the current offerings

To open the back, i saw someone making an open with a screwwdriver, small, and the with his own nail kept pushing around. It worked.

I really liked this phone for normal phone use, no gaming. Great size, storage, speed, functionality. The camera wasn't the greatest and the display wasn't super sharp.
But after 2 years, a lot of texts were being delivered to me and the phone will die randomly at battery levels less than 60% and I have to plug it in to turn on again, even if there's battery left. I did completely drop it in water about a year ago though. Worked fine after than until now.
Looking for a comparable Xiaomi to replace it. Thinking of the Mi A3, but wish it was a little smaller.

I am using this phone since 3 years, it is great phone in terms of durability , built quality , battery performance , Camera is superb in daylight photography ,software update and MIUI 11 is superb i love my device........

Into my third year of using the 4. The latest MIUI 11 update has improved battery life a bit. Not that it was bad earlier. Wish they made a modern version of this -- notchless, compact, navi buttons on the bezel -- instead of the current 6.5 inch monstrosities. It's great that Xiaomi provided such a cheap old phone with the latest UI update. Would pay anything for a modern version with the same externals and improved internals. When $100 phones can last 3 years with software support, you have to appreciate it.

After update MIUI 11.0.2.0 Stable, I'm facing heat issue and battery drain problem. android system hog more than 50% battery usage. restart and factory reset don't solve problem. I hope they will release update to fix this. I really like this phone because voice call recording and newer phone don't have that.

The only phone on the market with a 5 inch screen and a 4100 mah battery.
Unfortunately, the camera is not that good, 13MP while now you can find 48MP
I hope that the quality of the camera will get better.
Other things I dislike, the bloatware, that's a no no, you can't uninstall them, you have to put them away in a file if you don't want to see them. Just get rid of that shit, nobody wants something you can't uninstall.
and the MIU updates are quite bad.
