This phone is really amazing.
I normally would go for high end phone, but due to low usage, I decided to switch to a simple phone. Lo and behold, this phone is greater than I think.
1) The 18:9 5.99inch screen is beautiful, color is accurate. The last Android I used was Samsung S8, the screen tends to be slightly contrasty and vivid. Redmi 5 screen however is comfortable for viewing.
2) Battery is a must-mention. I am not worried of low battery anymore. Watching video and lots of reading takes me about 20-40% only.
3) Loud speaker. Good for music
4) Xiaomi theme makes customization easy. No need for Nova Launcher anymore.
5) the Iphone X effect. I love it without the navigation button on screen, I use the Full screen display.
6) Camera is not as bad as many mentioned. Still usable for me, You can try to install Open Camera for better picture quality.
7) Fingerprint to unlock, blazing fast and sensitive.
This is definitely a steal. You won't regret.

Updated to 9.5 global rom yesterday but after update I'm facing a problem that my phone starts lagging. While going back to main page from some app Happened many times. Made a hard reset. But still the same situation. Anyone facing the same situation?

Sid, 03 Apr 2018Can any one tell how is the camera of this phonefront camera will slightly disappoint you, otherwise rear one is ip to the mark. if you're planning to buy a phone under 10k then must go for this, otherwise if you can afford a little more then must go for note 5pro, if you want better camera, otherwise it's the best one.

My last phone is redmi note 2 . it still work but i planning to upgrade. I am not gamer but i found my redmi note 2 lack in baterai and memory. Which better for me redmi 5 plus 3/32 or 4/64. It will worth if i can save money?

farith, 02 Apr 2018i heard the redmi 5 plus have gps issues. is that correct?I've been using the GPS in Malaysia for 3 days, and move around more than 400km. Everything is good.

Updated to MIUI 9.5 Global rom..it brings a full screen mode..
Iphone X like gestures...i really like that feature..thanks xiaomi..
Animation should be tweaked a little bit..but accepteble.
