Same peice of shit... The main thing xiaomi should have upgraded is it's processor like SNAPDRAGON 430, which is entire brand follows, new upgraded handset means atleast it should have upgraded Processor...
Redmi 4a is better than 5a in some aspects like Redmi 5a doesn't have Gyroscope for those who use Compass but in 4a it has.

I have Redmi 5A in here and just tested - OTG is supported. Currently I have connected kingstone 16GB Flash drive and working well.
Also FullHD video is working like charm from USB Stick - or from my home NAS. And I mean 8 GB file, not an BRRIP with 1GB or so.
Good device for that price! Really. Appear faster than Redmi Note 3 or Samsung Galaxy Note II and I mean it!
