Your mentioned problems is way out of any logic, this phone is like having one of the best chipset right now altho it was last years flagship SD 855...
Maybe you should try to do factory reset, or at least try to clean the cache, do the deep clean, also do security scan.. Or, maybe you would want to take it to a service center to be checked..
You know what, I'm having the same experience as you mentioned, but my phone is redmi note 7 3gb ram version, but to me that make sense, because it only got a relatively low performance chipset and small ram...

It's an amazing phone too bad you didn't get it earlier but it's not too late. I use it for pubg every day 2-3 hours runs max settings and smooth.

This is a very disgusting phone. I have never used it for gaming or any heavy work. But it lags too much and I haven't used it for even 1 year. Besides the camera also lags and the video becomes very bad. I faced more problems earlier

Using it for more than 8 months. It's a value for money , power packed beast.
For the current market price, it got no competition. Just go for it. But remember, don't avoid full covering tempered glass even though it cover a bit of the viewing screen, and an armor case.
I dropped my phone and broke my display. It cost me rs9375 to replace it from authorised service centre
