sid, 16 Sep 2014Batter life is so poorSorry but in my opinion the battery life is quite good at 3,100 mAh capacoty as per day to day use of the Note where I'm constantly connected to the Internet 24/7 (DSL at home & portable WiFi on the road). So much better than my old cell (now a back-up phone) HTC Sensation 4.3" which quickly runs out of juice especially when connected to the net. I do respect your opinion about the Note's battery life but that's my story and am sticking to it, thanks.

Addendum to my previous post below:

Forgot to mention one of the best feature of the Redmi Note is the long battery life! There's no comparing it with my old HTC Sensation which constantly had to be recharged whether at home, office or in the car while on transit; the Redmi Note can easily last the whole day and more and I've never been caught seeing the dreaded "battery low" message which was frequent on the HTC. Also before hitting the sack at night, I note down % battery remaining and on waking up in the morning the phone just decreases some 2 to 3% charge with WiFi connection on! Excellent power management if I may say so. Also, the camera performs well, both front and back with copious and sharp details and good color rendition - the 13-megapix cam may not be the best there is but it can hold its own real well. Another thing I like pertains to the messaging interface which can block off pesky spam messages which is quite abundant from telcos here. Common apps like Facebook, Twitter, Viber etc. also run smoothly with no problems. So what we have here is a solid performer in almost all aspects of smartphone utility at a price that's hard to resist. That's my take on the Xiaomi Redmi Note (enhanced 2 GB 1.7 GHz version), this is a fun smartphone to use that's simply amazing for its price range.

In a nutshell this Redmi Note is a winner, very good value-for-money phablet and am loving it more and more as the days pass by of constant use (have had it for around 2 weeks, the 2 GB version w/ 1.7 GHz speed octacore). Got it in the Philippines from a cell shop, a bit more expensive than its quoted price but still happy with the purchase. Comparing it to my old cell (HTC Sensation 4.3") the screen seemed huge and refreshingly sharp & crisp, colors are vibrant and vivid and watching movies on it is a joy with an HD-like presentation. Sound is fine but would have preferred it to be coming out from the front and not at the back. The phone's size and weight is no problem for me, just right and it can easily slid onto my pant's pockets. Build-quality is alright and it doesn't seem to feel like a budget phone at all; I was able to acquire an original Xiaomi leather flip case (black) which fit like a glove. Performance is good, 3G signal is strong (and so is its hotspot) and loading time is quite fast with little waiting time. I'm using both SIM slots without a hitch. The MIUI interface is great, much better than Samsung (having previously owned a Galaxy Duos) and the screen's look & feel is very similar to iPhone. With a recent MIUI upgrade, I'm thankfully able to store camera pics, videos and mp3's to the external micro SD card which can go up to 32 GB. Can't think much to complain about this phone given its consumer-friendly price and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a decent, enjoyable, and well-performing phone to use at a price that won't break the bank. Kudos to Xiaomi for the Redmi Note, it sure is a winner in my book!
