Majority of those Note 10 Pro that dies(camera, etc.) are Made India or India Variant so you probably got those bad batch from them. I'm still rocking mine since day 1 so 2 years+ now with latest os/updates no problems.

I purchased this phone on 26/4/2021. It was all going well, getting random bugs with updates that forced me to do a hard reset in 2022. It was a good device but shortlived as it just died on me out of nowhere just after 2yrs. Took to the service center they could not identify the problem only told to replace a new motherboard,I was really disappointed with Xiaomi, I thought xiaomi devices dying on users was a rumour till it got to me...I would no longer advice anyone to purchase a xiaomi device, one might feel you've gotten value for money compared to other devices but in the long run you would feel you were scammed.

Have owned the Note 10 Pro for around 4 months (purchased new) is running the latest updates etc, and have experienced the battery drain issue a couple of times. Without doing any major testing myself with this issue as is so intermittant, I have noticed the battery drain only when mobile data is turned on and there is no compatible wifi signal (i.e. I don't have a login). Since I'm on a limited data plan I usually have mobile data off, as wifi is basically everywhere I will usually be, on the occasions mobile data is left on (after using maps in the car etc), if I'm not signed into a wifi network , I appear to experience a much faster battery drain. Still pretty happy with the device. My 2 cents...

If i understand the specs correctly, the latter only has a hybrid dualSIM slot and a downgraded macro camera so from that perspective the RN10Pro is still a better choice.

Camera App question (during video-recording, how to release focus- and exposure-lock)?

First of all thanks to everyone who tried reproducing the compass issue in google maps. I am sure Google + Xiami will fix that one day.

Here i have a question not specifically about the device but the camera app and found no solution anywhere on the net - maybe someone knows.

When recording a video in normal mode (not the pro mode) and with the main lense, the camera app starts in auto-focus and auto-exposure mode and will try to figure out the best settings on its own, continuously adusting the focus.
Found out that you can LOCK the focus + exposure by tapping on a particular subject in the image during video recording. The app will now try to keep the focus locked to the subject, while exposure can be changed with up/down swipe and i think the app actually adjusts the ISO and not the shutter.
However, HOW can i RELEASE this focus- and exposure locking while still in the same recording? Looks like they missed that, or is there some hidden thing having to press 3 things at the same time? :)

                          greetings

this has been redesigned with note 12 pro 4g. with 256gb storage. but i still adore the note 10 pro.

The 12 Pro 5G is unaffected, could be because it has MIUI 14 with Android 12 instead of 13? Weird

rolandschweiger, 08 Jul 2023does the Note 12 Pro 5G have the compass issue on Google Ma... moreHi. I tested what you asked and no, the 12 Pro 5G doesn't have any issues. I can make it go around, both the cursor and the map itself as I turn. Tried it also on the 10 Pro and it works fine as well, though a bit more choppy/stuttery but that is probably the aging chipset vs MIUI 14/Android 13. Latest EEA rom btw.
And yeah random drains can happen on all phones, but the frequency it happened on this one was too much and we're talking about 15-20% overnight drain, though it is better on the latest software, I had it worse on MIUi 12.5 I think. The 12 Pro 5G is free from that, thankfully.

You can find countless people complaining about it on xda, reddit and other sites. Search here in the comments for battery drain and you'll get over 5 pages of results. Maybe it affected some of the early batches of phones and they fixed it later on more recently manufactured devices, but this model does have that issue to a bigger extent than most smartphones.

I have both the Note 10 Pro and the Note 9 Pro, and while the former excels at photography especially with Google Camera instead of the stock app it gets warm even under light usage at a 60Hz instead of 120Hz and battery drains fast while the latter has no such issues. That said, both devices are pleasant to use and MIUI 14 works well save for those problems.

When you open Google Maps and toggle the little compass icon in the bottom right corner between face-north and "center", does the map rotate when rotating the device (or does the beam rotate when moving the device) or does the compass "get stuck"? Some people claim all MIUI14 devices have the issue. Apart from that i am still satisfied with the RN10Pro and have the 256GB version and currently no SD card inside. Dispite the Maps problem the fon performs really well and i like all of the features incl camera app (video quality at 1080p) and the 3,5mm jack and battery life is overall good; occasional "random drains" orrur on ANY PHONE in my opinion, it often has to do with some update in the background or an app that went bad. But rn10pro is still very solid.
