Sergio, 30 Aug 2023Does anyone know if there will be a fix for the maps/compas... morethe compass problem has often been mentioned before (mostly from myself) :-) and i as a visually impaired actually rely on this feature and use workarounds until now. one is to use the compass app instead (if i really need the direction) and another is to start a pedestrian navigation and then temporarily switch to "live view" and when quitting live-view again, the compass suddenly works and the map rotates. it does not however rotate when no navigation is on, and it does also not rotate when using public transport navigation and e.g. trying to walk to a bus stop. However - i decided to remain on MIUI 14.0.2 and Android13 (i have the global version with 256GB) AFAIK Xiaomi will still release new versions of Android and MIUI to the device so i'll just wait. The 14.0.4 has aparantly been pulled back so there must be a real reason. i'll wait and hope with one of the upcoming versions the compass thing will be fixed.
As apart from this anoying problem, i have NO ISSUES with the phone - none of them that have been mentioned by others. Proximity sensor works, cameras work, radio quality is good (e.g. the thing even works in my basement), VoWiFi and VoLTE work and switching between 3G/4G goes seemlessly, IPv6 connectivity works, UI is fast and snappy and only very occasinal minor bugs like "ghostly hm hm from the vibration motor), the fingerprint sensor is reliable and fast, i am even satisfied with the loudspeakers when close to the ears e.g. listening to something at bed time. The Atmos thing does its job. RAM management has gotten better with MIUI 14 which is also a reason why i don't want to roll back. I even use an app called "ScrCpy" (screen copy) that can mirror the phone's screen to the PC and allows to control it with mouse and keyboard of the PC, comes in handy. (developer options, USB debugging/security required); i am still convicned the price-feature-quality ratio of this phone is brilliant even today. so i hope that this one bug with maps will eventually be fixed, in the meantime i sent multiple reports to google + xiaomi

Does anyone know if there will be a fix for the maps/compass issue? An official announcement by Xiaomi? I can see there's a new version circulating, but no one seems to be mentioning a fix for the compass issue.

Name change trick does not work when u cross 13.0.3 rom and up ..

I have been using the phone for 1 and half year , it's been really good for the price . At first android 11 was horrifying as it had many bugs , but android 12 and 13 have been much better , it occasionally shut down once or twice but aside that it's been great , the camera lags a bit while clicking pictures and software could be a tad bit better but ig when you look at the price and specs you can't complain . It has been a good experience for me .

Is up to you though, if the ROM was retracted maybe it is because it has some serious issues.
Before I gave the 10 Pro to my mom I downgraded it with MiFlash to the latest MIUI 13. I had it with the bootloader unlocked. It has been working fine ever since. Tried the compass thing on Google Maps that MIUI 14 broke, and it works wonders there. So I can recommend you to do that. You will have to backup everything though since it cleans all your data.

rent free, 14 Aug 2023No no, there is no official way to downgrade rom version, e... moreThis is not true. If you unlock the bootloader you can flash any stock rom you want with miflash. You can downgrade easily. I've done it countless of times on my Note 10 Pro.

this phone is best for low budget, only if you keep it on miui 12.5. its working properly, with no issues.

I guess it has bugs, as others note, and has been pulled out.

currently have 14.0.2 and it does work except for the compass thing.
so to install 13.0.16 SKFMiXM is factory reset mandatory or will the phone allow downgrade?

Maybe it is still for beta testing even shows "stable", or indeed they pulled it out to public. If it so maybe it has critical bugs.

it is not offered via OTA in my regin (Austria, Europe) and i read somewhere that it might cause problems and even has been retracted?

I wanted to try it as an update (without loosing data, bank apps etc.) but have restrained from doing it so far.

akashi, 07 Aug 2023If you are experiencing battery drain, try installing Green... moresorry to contradict here but in my experience and opinion apps like "greenify" and similar are totally useless and stupid. Really stupid and without any sense. The android OS itself is full of optimisations regarding low power usage, MIUI itself also has numerous attempts integrated to acheive this. And the programmers / developers of Apps also have means if programming correctly to tackle power. Do you REALLY THINK that the author of an app such as "greenify" knows all the system-internal details of every phone brand / firmware + Android?
in my opinion don't use such apps! Leave the system alone.
my hints if battery drains:
1. leave the system alone and wait, very often after a day or two everything is back to normal. there are numerous reasons including background updates that can temporarily drain the battery and this is normal.
2. simply reboot - it can be miraculous at times.
3. look into the battery stats if problems persists, yes i know this is no oracle but it does help. if you do find an app with high consumption for no particular reason, stop and restart it, clear cache then only clear entire data if you are really sure the re-install does not cause too much trouble, un- and re-install - that sometimes helps.
4. if you use an SD Card, replace it (or take it out completely) -
this happened to me several times : i generally LOVE(d) SD Cards and put my fotos and videos onto there, but have experienced more than once that an SD card can go bad - starts with battery drain, sometimes sporadic reboots, sometimes files that cannot be copied or opened. Again, i generally like SDs but have changed my opinion slightly because they are aparantly a source of fault.
5. don't use 3rd party virus scanners and
6 also don't use apps like "memory optimizations"

my summery in most cases : leave everything alone and wait...

Worst experience ever. I have been using this phone since 2021 June somehow I had to replace the mother board in last year June and i had to wait for four month just to get my phone back. I have unpleasant experience regarding service center. Even after i replaced the motherboard it got corrupted again yesterday. I won’t recommend this phone at all
