In Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 4G, Always-on Display is available for 10 seconds only. Unlike, Samsung phones where Always-on Display is permanently on and shows at all times. I don't understand why to limit Always-on Display to 10 seconds only.

Yep, now i can confirm..i got a hands on experience with a Redmi note 12 4g, and i can confidently say that, its gaming performance is worse than that of Redmi note 11..
To be honest, its quite shocking because, note 12 4g was suppose to perfome much better.. I tried Pubg, free fire and Asphalt 9 and all of them worked better on the 1.5 year old redmi note 11.
Even free fire worked smoother compare to the newer model.
However only game that worked better on the note 12 4g is the call of duty mobile. Well its expected, as it is the one of the optimized game out there.
Sorry guys but note 12 4g is not a gaming phone, its even worse than note 11.
If you want to play games on Redmi note 12 4g, then my suggestion is that, make sure you keep a games graphics settings to the lowest as possible for a smoother and strutter free gaming experience.

I've heard sd 685 is even worse tgan its predecessor sd 680 when comes to just gaming.
          Is it true?

I got this phone 6/64(indian) variant and using this for 10 days. So here is my verdict after using this phone after 10 days

            Good sides:

Display and speaker: Its amoled and 120 hz is good. But not that great because it is a cheap amoled panel. I like its AOD, after turning screen off AOD would stay for 10 seconds and goes full screen off, 1 tap for AOD screen and 2 taps for lock screen. Display can get really bright so its easily visible in sunlight. Speaker could be better with a little more bass. Full volume is ok without any distortion.

Battery and Charging: I'm satisfied by its battery life. Even after heavy using I get around 9-10 hours SOT which is really good. Also charging time is only 1 hour for full charge, 30 minutes for 50%

Performance: CPU and Ram management is quite good, with its 6gb ram it can hold around 6 to 7 apps at once without any hesitation.

            Bad sides:

Hand feel of this phone is not good. This is my first phone with sharp edges and this is really bad. Phones with sharp edges does look good but does not feel good in hands. I would never buy another box shaped phone.

Gaming: this section is very disappointing. Why adreno 610 in 2023? It is very old and low powered. Most games can be played but in very low graphics. I play PUBG Mobile sometimes and with this phone I only get Balanced graphics with medium fps. Using gfx tool can rise upto hdr and high fps but the phone gets really hot.

Camera: another bad section of this phone. Photos are dull and less sharpen. Dynamic range is bad. Same for the ultrawide camera. I have a redmi note 5 pro and that phones camera is better than this one. Front camera is quite decent. A problem of this phone or its proccesor is that it can't shoot or play videos in 2k or 4k. So they can give atleast 1080p 60. But sadly it only can shoot in 1080p 30. Also YouTube does not show 2k or 4k. But if I download a video in 2k and play with mx player it is easily playable.

So my recommendation is this is a good balanced phone. If you want a balanced phone for daily usage this phone is for you. If you want to play games with good graphics or shoot some pictures or videos sometimes this isn't for you.

All I can say is humans are inherently perfectionist looking for dead-on impeccable stuff. Every phone has pros n cons and it's all about satisfying oneself for the phone purchased. An Infinix owner will admire Infinix, Samsung - Samsung, Xiaomi - Xiaomi, and so on. So be happy for what u have because many people are dying of food and don't forget Palestinians going through.

Kinda disappointed with this phone..camera quality is atrocious, the mono speaker doesn't sound that good not in 2023 and it struggles with running games on any setting above medium. I know that you get what you pay for but come on.. Seems like this phone's entire budget went into its 120hz screen. It's still a very decent phone but if you're a gamer then look somewhere else.

Anonymous, 15 Nov 2023This model has NFC and non NFC version. Unfortunately, Xiao... moreMine is 23021RAAEG, no NFC.
But i like it, it's great.

So I got the Redmi Note 12 4g variant that has an amoled screen, which I got layered with a screen protector for added protection; but I'm concerned about the squared segments observable when screen is closed. Is it because of the protector's compression or is it normal for an amoled screen to have squared segments? I asked ChatGPT but it's saying the contrary and now I'm anxious. Anyone here to mollify my concern?

I got this phone for PHP4798 or 86.61 dollars here in the Philippines for the 4/128 variant online (shopee)
And honestly this is one of the best budget phone you can get out there, however you need to limit your expectations specially the camera, its take nice photo in daylight however when it's come to low light scenarios the photo quality is not really good( but again considering the price) i won't complain that much and beside you can use gcam if you really want take nice shots out of this phone

Overall i would give this device a score of 7.5/10

PS: i will NOT recommend this phone for those folks out there that is into gaming better look for other phone that has a decent hardware, although yeah it can do gaming but again limit your expectations

The camera is very bad for the price. Performance wise it is very decent. Gaming is okay, it's more worth it to buy the 5g version if you want better performance but pretty much all redmi note 12 models have bad cameras but decent performance even if you're not gaming.

I played Genshin on this phone (8 GB 128 GB) for the past few days but only on the lowest settings and 30 fps. I managed to get all teleporter waypoints in the Chasm with this phone and get a lot of Lumenstone. I tried 60 fps although it does run up to around 50 fps even on the lowest settings and has some lag.

This phone will be worth it once its price goes down next year but for the price now, it's okay, just the camera only sucks.

This model has NFC and non NFC version. Unfortunately, Xiaomi did not find time to notify about this . You need to buy the phone and find out afterwards . The versions are as follows:
Go to phone settings, under the Detailed info and specs
