After a few days here are my thoughts on it, my last main was a Redmi Note 10 Pro
PROS
- Great screen. Responsive. Fluid and with all the perks for video streaming.
- Snappy performance. The Dimensity 1080 won't win any awards but the system and multitasking feels very good. I'm not a heavy gamer so I can't review that aspect.
- Main camera sensor is pretty good, takes some beautiful shots. OIS helps a lot in certain scenarios.
- Good battery life. Not amazing, but at an average use it will last through the whole day. Charging is very quick.
CONS
- Power draw is a bit higher on almost every scenario than it should be. Maybe this is related to the software optimization, as the chipset has proven to be efficient on other phones. Hopefully when it gets Android 13 it will be better. If they fixed this, battery life would be godlike.
- Speaking of the OS, it came with Android 12 from factory. Not a tragedy but it won't see Android 15, probably. Competitors like the A34 offer Android 17. And custom ROMs for mediatek devices aren't common.
- Selfie and macro cam are a downgrade compared to the Note 10 Pro. The selfie is okay-ish, sometimes the skin tones are too pale. The macro is a joke.
Overall quite pleased with it. Specially with the snappy performance, given that MIUI isn't the cleanest of the Android skins available.

I bought Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G in Iran & it's much better than my family Galaxy A54, function with normal temp & cool (Galaxy A54 heating easily even in light usage, but this is not), better battery & screen than A54. Totally an excellent device & the best one at this price range.

A note for others considering this phone - I think it's not very good for gaming. I tried some games & it was a lil bit sluggish at the drag race one. Probably because of the only two high performance cores.
My previous phone was weaker than this, but never had any sluggishness during similar games. It was with slower, but 4 high performance cores.
Otherwise it's really really nice phone & very glad I choose it.

Even if more of the battery is spent just for 10-15 minutes the charge will be 80+

is there any option to limit the battery charging? for example on my last samsung you can set it to charge up to 85% and leave it all night long connected without worrying to damage the battery, the battery on this so far is impressive I get back home with 70 + % of remaining battery, I would love to be able to let it charge all night and forget about it

Writing this from my brand new phone. I'm coming from a Redmi Note 10 Pro that started to show its age. Didn't use a MicroSD with it so I'm not going to miss the lack of that slot. Will be posting back my thoughts on it in a few days or a couple weeks, but so far I like it a lot.

MicroSD card lovers are in for a rude awakening. 3 years tops most of the worthwhile midrange devices won't have one, and what will you do? Just get a 256 GB phone and so be it. You can always get an adapter or an USB-C flash drive and get the job done via OTP. I had the Note 10 Pro before this and this is a way better choice even without it. Since phones started to get 64-128 GB of internal storage I started to use my microSD cards way less.

The specifications are okay, but not having CD card slot for a 128gb phone is what I don't like and I think other people may not like it as well. If that can be sorted out, then my next phone for sure will be this phone.
