Eimme, 28 Aug 2023Is this worth it to buy?I now had 2 of this model , both 16+1TB , one had been flashed with the international Poco F5 launcher and ROM ( and the system report the phone as a Poco F5 ) and the other retain its home market MIUI 14 and launcher .. I've been using both as my main phone for some time now and my answer to you is
YES .... and .... NO
It all boils down to what do you expect and how much you wishing to customize .. in the past home market MIUI tend to be cluttered with local content that is difficult to manage , but not so more with the latest MIUI 14 , you can activate Google Service ( Basic ) and from there install whatever Google Play Store supply , if wishing you can simply uninstall most of the preinstalled Xiaomi home market apps except of course those that's system & come with the OS/UI - or if you had access to service or can do it yourself you can totally flash it with the international ROM making it essentially a POCO F5
Both version had their pro and con .. the home market MIUI 14 is indeed more advance and offer more customization and tweaking vs the POCO version , on the other hand some service that work on the POCO version will just not work on the home market MIUI 14 , most importantly the Google Assistant - well actually it do work if you manually launch it ( after you install Google itself and give the permission for it to read the Device info ) but you will not be able to configure a launch gesture nor use the " Hey Google " part which essentially is what a voice assistant suppose to do , and the home market ( and also available on the POCO version ) Mi Assistant .. let's just put it this way , made sure you do not activate it , actually it work fine for the most part but once activated it cannot be deactivated or decommissioned , otherwise everything else work perfectly fine , there is nothing different on the Home version vs the International POCO version for day to day use, the major difference is in the UI part , The home version of course run the server towards the home market and thus the Themes / wallpapers etc etc you will get to see will be different vs the Int'l POCO version , some UI control also seems better optimized on the home version
Also plenty of the MIUI system App on the home version shown more developed depth vs the Int'l POCO version and here's the catch you will had to invest time and effort to customize that home market ROM , where the POCO version more an OK ( kind of ) to just get going right from opening the BOX , both feel just racy , snappy and just flawless once properly setup, and customized
The 7+ Gen 2 indeed show itself to be very capable, efficient and its striking well above the price point might indicate , I've try the other 7+ Gen 2 phone ( the only other model ) that is the Realme GT Neo5 SE , compare to the Redmi it feels totally rushing the work clunky and unfinished and it shows .. right now the Note 12 Turbo / POCO F5 the only phone enjoying this chip and at the price asked for its a steal alright

As a matter of fact, 12 turbo HAS ATMOS !!! the only differences are : more memory for 12 turbo (512 Gb and 1 Tb ) , 12 turbo has OLED instead of amoled and some 4G carriers connections :

CamoGeko-XDA, 31 Jul 2023I can't wait to order the 1TB 16GB version later this ... moreIt's because they might make the F5 way too expensive, if they release the 512 and 1TB variants, I could tell it would cost around 600 or 800 euros or something
