RS, 18 Jul 2024WHICH one is better Redmi note 13 pro or A55 of samsung?I have both the A55 and this Redmi. A55 is snappier, software is more polished and battery is better.
I like the Redmi's main camera a bit more, same for the screen (and screen bezels) and speakers. It is slimmer and less heavy. But the Samsung is really good. I think it is unfair to compare them since the Galaxy is more expensive and goes against the Redmi Note 13 Pro+. This one should compete against the A35, and there I think this is a better device overall.

RS, 18 Jul 2024WHICH one is better Redmi note 13 pro or A55 of samsung?A55 of course, but it's also a lot more expensive, so it's not exactly a fair comparison.
The A35 is closer to the Note 13 Pro in pricing and is a more fitting rival. Whichever one is better depends on your needs:
Redmi Note 13 Pro has a better main camera, a better display, Snapdragon processor, a headphone jack, faster charging, and a complete box with all accessories included - USB cable, wall adapter, and case.
Samsung A35 has better durability, better battery life, better speakers, a micro SD slot, better selfies, better video recording, and longer and more regular software updates.

if i can uninstall all 1st-party apps then I'm in.
I could live with quarterly security updates but it has to be accompanied with 1st-party app optimizations, maintenance or quality of life updates. But waiting for 6-9 months of new system/OS updates is intolerable.
Unless I see proof of Xiaomi improving all these in the current version of Hyper OS then i'll probably stay clear of them like the plague.
I see Samsung as similar to Xiaomi. Their 1st-party apps is seeing an increase in ads, and i don't like some aspects of One UI the performance being one of them because (like Xiaomi) is bogged down with bloateware.
Would you say Motorola is slightly better with the updates cycle & timeline than Xiaomi?

From what i read you still can't uninstall all 1st-party apps. That for me still is a concern. You can disable ads but not totally eradicate it from the system unless you connect your phone to a PC and delete everything you don't want.
Security updates are different from system updates. You seem to imply they are the same. I could live with quarterly updates but it has to be accompanied with 1st-party app optimizations, maintenance or quality of life updates. But waiting for 6-9 months of new system/OS updates is also intolerable.

This phone, like many others from Xiaomi and Poco, doesn't have AOD. Showing "AOD" for 10 seconds is not AOD, as the name implies: ALWAYS ON Display.

Gino76ph, 14 Jul 2024I think we can both agree with the notion Snapdragon 695 is... moreNo way dude, minor improvements to g84 camera still means that camera quality will be bad if it was to begin with. If you're concerned about bloatware, you can now remove it with ladb apk by tribalfs without computer (on newest android versions). Another problem with xiaomi however is the ram management which is non existent even on their flagship phones which is just insane. For that reason alone, I had to go with samsung. And for apps like video player etc you have to find an alternative because they display ads in between when you pause a video which is ridiculous. You can counter that with custom dns and disabling internet access for specific app, but there's no guarantee that it will work

Is anyone having Wi-Fi problems with this device? I have 300Mbps at home, my old broken POCO X3 NFC reaches 280Mbps in speedtest, another POCO X5 Pro reaches even better with 290Mbps, and so another Samsung A13 and Moto Z4. Except this Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G, it barely reaches 100Mbps. All tests were made on the 5GHz band (I disabled 2.4GHz band). Even I self-hosted iperf3 server on my PC to do a local speed test and the result on this device is the same. And yes I'm right next to the access point. I don't understand how every device reaches good speed results and this device can't. Forgot to mention I bought it barely one month ago, never dropped, always with plastic case. I realized this problem when transfering local files to my PC, it was taking more time compared to my previous POCO X5 Pro.

Gino76ph, 15 Jul 2024Would you be concerned with ads or receiving quarterly secu... moreYou say that for Xiaomi yes? I've only seen ads in a few system apps (themes and cleaner) and they can be disabled. People really exaggerate the ads thing with this brand.
As per updates, Xiaomi isn't very good at them. For example this phone I still have it in MIUI 14, since I tried HyperOS and felt like a beta software. They also release occasional security patches mostly, and bugs can take long to be implemented. Same for new features. Last year there was a ridiculous bug with Google Maps and MIUI14/Android 13 across all Xiaomi models that made the compass navigation basically useless, and took months and countless reports of people to be fixed.
If the OS stability, efficiency and updates is a major concern, nobody should be buying Xiaomi phones. I'd recommend Samsung in that case, since they are more polished in this aspect.

Gino76ph, 15 Jul 2024Would you be concerned with ads or receiving quarterly secu... moreFor the ads - nope, I use a Private DNS with ad-blocker functionality, uninstalled most of the bloatware that are able to be uninstalled, and disabled notifications for apps that cannot be uninstalled such as GetApps. Boom, no more ads.
Quarterly updates - also nope, I personally don't pay attention to system updates much. Though it can be a bit annoying waiting for bug fixes and improvements because Xiaomi aren't very good at releasing their phones with stable software at launch. Had to wait almost a full year just for my old Poco F1 to have stable performance when gaming; it stuttered pretty badly at everything when I first got it despite having a powerful chip for its time.

Gino76ph, 14 Jul 2024I heard with the Android 14 update the Moto G84 apparently ... moreG84 can't compete with this. Maybe in the software being cleaner and having a slight edge in battery life but the Redmi is much superior in hardware... A friend has the Motorola so I have tested it thoroughly. Wouldn't change my 13 Pro for that, and I'm critical of this phone.
