I dowloaded the global rom from the miui site using my PC transfered it to my redmi note 2 and upgraded from it the first time to upgrade from the seller's rom (miui 6 to 7) then i upgraded again through the system updater. In both instance, the ads were there when charging the phone. The seller's rom was worse since the ads appear not only during charging time.

It's not uncommon. By default, Xiaomi doesn't have Play Store so a lot of sellers that you import from, will install it for buyers. Depending on the seller, it might include unwanted ad apps as well. Best to do a full wipe and then install global ROM or else a better custom ROM so that none of the pre installed apps get carried across.

You can download the latest fastboot global stable rom (MIUI 7.2.2) from:

and flash it by following the steps described at:

For all those who can't make the update OTA or from official site, you can install a fastboot global stable ROM by following the guide from:

1. There is no official update for your device. and you can not update yourself.
2. Wifi sometimes stuck and reboot the device.
Solution:
1. As you are afraid of voiding your device warranty, contact your mobile company and inform them your device has problem.. Hope they will solve the problem.
2. I think wifi problem is the software issue.. because my device has this issue too.. but after i update the software it runs smooth.
so I can conclude here, contact your mobile company (local offices).. and tell them your device problem, hope they will solve your device's issues..

It's a great phone considering the price (about 150 euros for the 32 GB version).
It's very fast and the speed, stability and battery life improved much after installing the latest MIUI (7.2.2) from http://en.miui.com/download-274.html#430

The best solution to most of your problem is to install the latest miui global stable rom. (Currently 7.2.2.0)
That will fix most of your problem.
Yes including battery life. Because most of custom rom installed with so many apps running in background and also this rom often maximizing performance at all times by using all 8 cores at all times. Thats why most of you have issues on battery life.
My suggestion: install the latest official miui global rom.
The battery will not last for 1 full day but it will bring a noticable difference. Depends on how you use it. 5 hours average on mine.

Battery problem?
Most of redmi note 2/ prime on the market doesn't come with official miui rom installed. Mostly preinstalled with developer/custom rom. I dont know why, but this is what happens.
Those developer/custom roms usually doesnt have google service installed, shows rom version number which is never issued by the official miui rom, and always say current rom is up to date (never found any update). It has lots of bug, & comes with so many unofficial apps, that cannot be uninstalled. those apps keeps running in the background when the phone idle. With all of those no wonder that users often get some problen
