Update: A new rumor suggests the device is set for launch on August 21, and notes that a couple of high-end variants exist as well.

There may be a couple of such models - MDE6S and MDT6S (standard one is MDE6) - that are said to be powered by Snapdragon 625 SoC, sport 5.5-inch FHD display, and come with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. RAM options include 3GB and 4GB.

Original story follows:

Dropping down from the Snapdragon 630/660, the more affordable model will use Snapdragon 425 instead (an old, 28nm chip). And it will have a smaller battery, 3,080mAh vs. 3,790mAh on the non-A model. In short, expect less performance and a shorter battery life.

while I hope the same, I don't think they will do it (at least for now). my guess is that these kind of features would be reserved for mi line up which is in a higher tier compared to redmi line.
