Anonymous, 21 Feb 2019Of course Xiaomi Mi9. Are you kidding me? The advantages of... moreSo it is much better because it has slightly better camera? Remember, RN7pro has sony sensor, wich is better than samsung one. Its camera will be better than RN7. And you mentioned only the camera. So, is a slightly better picture/video quality really worth twice as much money? He did ask about value, after all? Also the MI 9 has amoled screen and wireless charging and nfc. And thats about it. Mi9 is a great phone, but is it really worth twice as much?

        It's flagship vs mid-range phone.
Not sure if that guy is trolling or what by asking such obvious question.

Anonymous, 21 Feb 2019RN7 pro or mi 9? Which is better value?Of course Xiaomi Mi9. Are you kidding me? The advantages of Mi9 over RN7Pro are simply too numerous to count. Mi9 is at least three levels higher than RN7Pro, as follows:
          1) RN7Pro (mid-ranger)
          2) Higher-mid-ranger (Mi9SE)
          3) near-flagship (last year's flagship, such as Honor View 20, MiMix 3)
          4) 2019 flagship (Mi9).

Mi9's camera setup leaves Samsung S10 completely in the dust. (S10's ultra-wide-angle camera is a toy camera with fixed focus, i.e., it can't autofocus.) Mi9 has the best camera-trio set-up in the smartphone world. It is competitive or even slightly ahead of the current champion: Huawei Mate20Pro. With the forth-coming series of updates of AI enhanced camera software from Xiaomi, it could be eventually ahead of Mate 20 Pro's current implementation. Even with the current implementation, its video is already the world's best. You can use any of the three cameras (ultra-wide-angle, Standard, telephoto) for excellent video recording with the class-leading implementation of EIS (electronic image stabilization) for each of these three cameras. For photography, each of the three cameras has the class-leading fast focus implementation. (Please ignore all the talks regarding OIS in the forum. For photography, superior fast focus always trumps OIS.)

SD675 is the most capable SoC for a mid-ranger for the first half of 2019. Xiaomi uses it for Redmi Note 7 Pro for good reasons:

-- In terms of cpu benchmarks, SD675 is only below SD845 and SD855 in the current Snapdragon line of SoCs. SD675 is ahead of SD712 and SD710 in most benchmarks. (SD700 series do have better power efficiency.)

-- In the current Snapdragon line, only SD855 can handle a 48MP camera. Other than SD855, SD675 is the only SoC capable of taking snapshots@48MP, one snapshot at a time, although SD675 can't handle a 48MP camera. (SD845 can't even make 48MP snapshots.)

BOE's currently has enough AMOLED capacity to support premium devices (e.g., QHD for Huawei's Mate 30 series) plus a few select flagship models (possibly for vivo's upcoming commercialized version of vivo APEX 2019, IQOO's upcoming flagship, Xiaomi's MiMix 4, Oppo Find Z, etc). The extra capacity for mid-rangers and lower-priced models will not be available until 2020.

Anonymous, 21 Feb 2019RN7 pro or mi 9? Which is better value?RN7PRO. Mi9 is more than double the price but it is not THAT much of an upgrade. Sure, it has more powerful cpu and an amoled screen, but RN7pro beats it on almost every other front, except wireless charging (if that is important to you). Redmi has bigger battery, cpu can more than handle everyday stuff (it is even good for gaming, although not at highest settings), it has 48MP Sony sensor, SD card slot, gorilla glas front/back. The design is not that much dissimilar. If you play games alot go for Mi9, if not - RN7pro is one of the best choices for the price

Ron7x, 21 Feb 2019I am going to upgrade my phone soon and I'm choosing betwee... moreI'd choose the RN7PRO. The diff in the cpu is irrelevant, battery capacity is 33% bigger in RN7, and it is also cheaper. Camera setup is the same. It comes down to personal preference regarding the design and size of the device (SE is smaller than RN7).
