    I have been using this phone for more than 4 years. It's a great device. I’ve used it heavily—overcharging it and sometimes letting the battery drain to 0%. Despite that, I'm still using the original battery, and I still get about 7 hours of decent screen-on time (SOT). In the earlier days, I got nearly 12 hours of SOT.

    On the software side, the phone originally came with MIUI 11 on Android 10. MIUI 11 had some minor bugs, like the screen turning off during WhatsApp calls. Then, I updated to MIUI 12 on Android 10. The first iteration of MIUI 12 had a ghost touch problem, which was frustrating. I updated again to a later version of MIUI 12, still based on Android 10, and it was perfect. I used that version for nearly 3 years. After that, I decided to flash a custom ROM and installed CrDroid based on Android 14. It worked like a charm, and I rooted my device as well.

    However, the issue with custom ROMs is that the camera quality became worse. The stock MIUI had perfect and unmatched camera quality. So, I went back to MIUI 13 based on Android 12. I used that version for nearly half a year, and it was perfect. The device is still working like a charm.

    I did encounter one hardware issue: the phone would restart automatically, and the battery would drain instantly. I thought I needed a new battery, so I went to the official Xiaomi service center to get the phone repaired. The problem was with the battery connector malfunctioning, which is a common issue for the Note 9S and Pro models. They replaced the connector, which cost me 3000 LKR—a relatively low cost. After the repair, I've been using the device for another year without any issues.

    Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase. New mid-range devices under $200 can never beat phones like this.

    I know newer Xiaomi mid-range phones aren’t as good.

      Does anyone has a problem with mobile data connection speed and signal dropping? My redmi note 9s mobile data (4G) speed is significantly lower compared to another phone using the same sim at same place. Is this problem in phone settings or a hardware problem?

                  After 3 and half years my micro sd card and sim cards 1-2 are no longer detected (alone or together: sd card + sim1 or sim2).
                  I guess slot is completely dead.

                  Tested other sim card (working fine on other phones) on this phone, not detected.
                  Tested current sim card/micro sd card on other phones, working fine.
                  So it is not sim card/micro sd card issue.

                  Did airplane mode several times, reset network, factory reset -> no success.

                    This phone only support gps (USA), glonass (RU), beidou (CN),

                    galileo (EU) satellites are not detected at all !

                      I got extreme battery draining issue on MIUI 14 global. After a while I decided to downgrade it into v 12.0.4. Now battery draining issue is gone completely.

                          I have been using this device for 3 years for work..yeah as usual the ghost touch problem is frequent only if you use a screen protector a little less...anyway the performance is very good with the SD720G It's only in its third year, the battery is a bit HUNGRY hehehe...anyway, this is a good device to use for various jobs..the spare part is very cheap and very durable even if it crashes from the motorcycle when Riding... congratulations for this model

                            I am using this phone for over three years, no issues found at all. However, recently, i've got to face two major irritating issues on this device:

                            It's audio codec/playback starts having issues while connecting it via bluetooth earbuds, and whatever media played on device stutters.
                            Macro camera sudden stops working, potrait mode as well.

                            Has anyone else faced such issues? Is there any solution to it? Please let me know.

Run all the apps smooth without lag. Especially facebook, i scroll down fast zero lag and video smooth

                                    4years already, almost all xiaomi phone have ghost touch after 2years of using, download screen touch test app found out a small spot spoilt. It cause by game turbo xiaomi and heavy gaming. i change battery about 3rd years. Now i flash Lineage OS 21, android 14 and minethegapps and battery calibration. it last longer and free of bloatware.
