LG G4 will reportedly not feature a metal body

23 March, 2015
The Korean manufacturer is still expected to launch a smartphone with metal body this year.

If it is going to be curved it makes sense. Plastic is flexible but metal is easily bendable.
Also, using metal will increase the cost of the phone and for what? Premium feel? The brushed plastic on the G3 looks and feels good enough already.

Thanks god finally someone make sensible decision and stick to polycarbonate build.
Metal phone is easy to get electrostatic discharge when phone plugged into wall charger.
I don't want my ear (or my brain) get electrocuted when making call with phone plugged into wall.

LG please make more powerful mid-end phone like L90 II.

I don't mind G4 made of plastic because LG knows how to make it attractive. Besides we may end up with replaceable battery which is a competitive bonus.
Personally I also hope for plastic OLED screen like they've used with G Flex2.

AnonD-13148, 24 Mar 2015Plastic on LG is acceptable because LG knows how to design ... moreI totally disagree with you.
The ONE only possible reason why manufacturers change (NOT necessarily "improve") their products:
        - OFFER what Customers DEMANDs
Other reasons that will appeal to a new DEMAND:
        - Sensationalism
        - Marketing
        - Reliability
        -
        -
        - Innovation (NOT really at the bottom end as is a primarily goal for DEMAND but, is rarely achieved depending again what is fashion/DEMAND of time/date/location)

In my opinion, all manufacturers usually are literally playing poker at the smartphone industry. There is only a few success stories meeting the DEMAND consistently with the new products and I would probably narrow it down to 1, to apple. In this case innovation was NOT the top of the line.
Just to explain how the universe is different, I'm an end user that likes innovation, I don't search for a fashion trend and I'm careless of the reliability. I enjoy my smartphone as it lacks of support, it challenges me to develop it but in the end for many of you, is just a cheap Chinese phone that you would never buy it. Funny thing is that when is at my hand as I put an effort into it, the demand is higher than at our common universe. Guess why!

For now we do not know if noteV will be any better than S6.
I know LG for good competing devices and cool price. May be that I will change this year brand. I hope for pen included.

If this is to call Samsung's bluff and accommodate a removable back / battery - then fair play LG :)
                    If it's a polycarbonate uni-body - oh dear.
Sadly I have a feeling it'll be the latter :S

Plastic on LG is acceptable because LG knows how to design and use plastic. Unlike Samsung that uses plastic only because the manufacturing cost is cheaper and nothing else. High price per unit minus cheaper manufacturing cost equals BIG PROFIT. The only reason why Samsung switched to glass and metal is the wake up call of its huge market share decline for the past quarters. If it didn't happen, Samsung will still use cheaper alternatives.

well for G4 metallic body would've worked like a charm , i just fansy about having G3 in metallic body , it would be awesome.. and Qualcomm also promised the successor of SD 810 i.e SD 815 that almost eliminates the overheating problems.. as they claim.. so it would be better to come up little late with metallic body rather than coming on time with the same Old plastic one..

I actually prefer poly carbonate body as aluminium phones feel more fragile. Plastic phones can handle a drop without a dent half the time. Not with the metal phone I found.

Anyway, old phone with small back cover to remove (i had S8300, and after a while i had to look for another back) and small format battery. Can't be compared to 5 inchers big format batteries of nowadays. Big removal back wouldn t feel pretty imo

Hopefully it's cheaper than iPhone or S6, I can buy any phone but it's not practical to spend too much just for a phone.
