AnonD-442781, 30 Aug 2016To keep Apple in Ireland. International regulations exist t... moreAs if Apple would pull out of Ireland. Ireland don't need Apple and without iPhones people would just buy Samsung, etc and the revenue would still flow just into other pockets. The only party that loses is Apple. It's not like they fit in some special technological niche or anything that's vital for the continuation of mobile phone technology. Unless you count overpriced, outdated spec (okay I'll admit their CPUs are beasts) phones with a limited OS capability a niche.

Dzandza, 30 Aug 2016Because Apple has paid of this idiot Michael Noonan!Indeed. Ireland's finance minister, --the-- man tasked with looking after the country's economic situation, objects to the ruling telling the world's most profitable company to pay its share of taxes, in a country whose GDP is barely bigger than Apple's itself?
I can -smell- the "lobby" payment from here....

great news, if you avoid your tax payments in the EU for TEN years across the whole of the EU then you deserve a healthy fine, i hate the way apple operate, however ANY company who avoids or bypasses tax laws deserve the strongest punishments possible, any of us working class people would be punished heavily for tax avoidance, Apple only paid £50 in every £MILLION earned! im sure most of us pay that amount every week let alone in every million.....

International regulations exist to stop individual governments like Ireland from doing this sort of thing, because if they didn't then governments would just have a race to the bottom for tax, and that wouldn't be good for anyone, except companies like Apple.

This is ridiculous! 0.005% tax! Company that makes billions profit every year and pretends that cares for the community! And I, with my miserable salary, have to pay 35% income tax! If this is fair, I am a trolleybus! Crooks, all of them!
