Microsoft killed Nokia with WP using Elop hands. IT was huge mistake, you cant choose WP for main OS, of you do it..you will lose. Lack of options, settings, no apps, no freedom. Smartphone = apps, no apps = no people. Microsoft have old WM, Symbian and they make something teribble like WP/M ?! Competition is good but you must show good product.

Anonymous, 10 Sep 2016Nokia was going down hill like Blackberry already...Just the opposite..Nokia now don't have hardware unit to maintain, they also don't have to spend money on R&d ,but still they'll earn money via licensing deal..This time HMD will do everything,Nokia will just sit back and enjoy with android obviously..

What was the whole point of messing up the desktop version of Windows to be compatible with mobile devices. And those almost usable software programs campatible with mobiles but in reality not usable compared to desktop soft. And... what did realistic ppl told, hehe. I throw my both lumias away some time aga as unreliable devices.

Nokia 808 the last hurrah, Big business is shameful there's a big call for the perfect device but for some reason we keep getting silly heart beat monitors that are insanely inaccurate come on manufactures its either a megapixel race or my soc is faster than your soc.

I'm a big fun of Android OS (and used to be iOS fan way back) but WM10 always be a welcome addtion because greater number of option definitely benefits cuponsumers. So this is nothing but sad news.
Besides Microsoft's take of future computing (i.e. continuum) is right on the mark imo even though it has terribly rough edge right now, because full-fedged computer which used to take up entire room is just book-size now and going to be phone-size near future. I want to see more.

No Matter, 10 Sep 2016Haven't you learned already, that Ms never cares for custom... moreYou are right, i knew that microsoft is not trust worthy. But i used lumia 640 for 4 months and it is really nice os for me; who needs minimum apps. But due to lack of good camera in 640, and as there was price reduction around 7-10 days back, i ordered it. As such i am getting in half the price of starting price; i can use it at least for a year. Back up android mobile will be necessity now. :P

Well, I told you it will happer soon. Microsoft is blind, deaf, very restricted and too slow to compete in the smartphone martket. Too much politics involving and departments in such big companies like microsoft. WP OS is ok, could have potential, but phones... Oh man, they are hideous. First ones, under NOKIA name was cool enough: 720, 820, 1020. Then maybe 830. And then crisi struck..

Oh, this news should have come 2-3 days earlier. I ordered lumia 950 with dock only 2 days back. I have maintly bought for camera and dock functinality. I am least worried about applications; as i hardly use more than 10 applications. But update should be there. They should care about consumers, who are using it; at least for two more years from the day of closure. They should keep their promises and should not be fiasco like 5 years back.
Now i have to think of second phone, because microsoft is not much trustworthy about keeping promises. So i have to purchase nexus, possibly 2 year old one at cheap price.

I think I will buy a Lumia and put it in a monter as a museum piece in memory of an industrial adventure. Just like a good old Tandberg radio.

The main & only reason for Lumia division shutting down is the design of the phones, they in no way look appealing and even the expensive ones look so dull and boring, or else the Windows OS is much much better than android and works flawless. Its sad that they cant see where they are going wrong.

It was about time we got ridden any last Nokia remains!
The name had to go, i got the 650, to second my s7 edge, just for 100$ and it was a blast, bestvalue for money on the market, its like having an A5, in design, amoled screen and UI performance! But the lumia numia seemed so misplaced in this glass and metal design.
Lumias are mostly cheap colorfull plastic phones. MS must move on and revamp their line, cutting any times to the lumia name is the first step, the presentation of the win 10 UI was the first, yet the decisive step would be thedeals they are going to make with 3rd party app devs!
They need to invest on some key devs to port their apps on win 10, MS has a massive experience on that front considering their history on the console front.
Unfortunately, their greediness will set as a priority to find a way of asking monthly fees from the surface owners, so they can make money out of thin air...
At any case, benefiting from a piece like 650, only for 100$ is probably smth that will be missed after the rebranding/renaming...

Debb, 10 Sep 2016I had migrated to W10M (on a Lumia of course) from Android,... moreI don't want to sound negative or something but this is exactly what I was feeling as thEY were promoting and advertising for the lumia under WM10 ecosystem... just to be punched in the middle of the face with a mega reduction in the Lumia prices less than a month from launch (not kidding, my 950 XL went in UAE from AED 2,400 to AED 1,000 in less than 2 months - that's more than 50% down)... before I could recover they come with "you know what; we're killing the whole Lumia line" ... Lol!
My point is; how could you tell the Surface will not be just another sad story with a different name? The way I see it; we were test rats for Microsoft and once they got what the wanted (whatever it is the were after) they ditched the whole thing out. Even if WM10 continued the fact that Lumia line is killed is already alarming
