Sony doesn't really have good spec in paper but perform better in real life. Prove is someone still using z1, t3 and c5 ultra till today.
The cause of that point of view is never had one(the phone), review(about the phone) is enough.
Being a little open doesn't hurt
Every brand is unique whether performance, stability, quality, innovation, relibility, longetivity etc.

Xperia has gone from "meh" to something closer to "wow", its not there yet but its closing the gap with Samsung. LG and Samsung's new G6 and S8 will pressure Sony to cut bezels by next year. Besides, having no bezel is unattractive, having too much is unattractive. A phone with 50% bezel size of an Xperia or 30% larger than the S8 to me is a perfect bezel size. Front facing dual stereo speakers matter too, that's what the S8 and G6 lack.

Not Z1 and Z2 though, but Z series and X series has different design especially the XZ (mybe not that different, in picture that is)
Same can be said with other device
You wont be able to differentiate iphone 6,6s and 7 with chinese phone without holding it
And samsung no better s1 and s2, s3 to s5, s6 and s7 + A(2017) series is pretty much identical

I know you are talkin about SD835, but mind that difference won't be enough to call SD821 "crap", i guess that you are aware that thos SoC is not currently avaible, and that it won't be for another 2 months.

I was reading some battery stats ranking on Phone arena and LG's X Power was the leader of the pack amongst an endless list of devices.
So with all that in mind, how come LG wouldn't use such an advantage and do the same for their flagship G6 knowing that it is a little lacking in the most recent chipset and will also come with just 32GB of storage (US) and also gorilla glass 3 up front?

SD 821, 5 MP selfie camera, a downgraded rear sensor, no IR blaster, no removable battery........the G6 did really take 1 step back for every 2 steps it gained. I though we would find a silver lining in the pricing but alas!
