HTC Sensation doesn't offer a unibody design after all?

02 June, 2011
The HTC Sensation, which was promised to boast the company's unique unibody design might not have it after all. The first live photos and videos that surfaced clearly show that the back panel of the...

It's a easily removable unibody frame with plastic inserts. Mine arrived a week ago. It's a truly beautiful and solid device, the screen has a remarkably fine resolution and super LCD is gorgeous, I even find the 'white's' more comfortable than the in Samsung's amoled screen.
Though, I have some issues with the device it heats up extremely quick, it might be a motherboard issue on this handset only though, I'll send it back for checkup this week.

And I was expecting a HTC Sensation review from GSMArena... you have not seen the damn thing. It's out in UK (for 2 or 3 weeks) and you can buy it now. This seems like a "news" written 4 months ago.

What's really suprising, is that how one of the internet's best mobile websites like GSMArena has realized this fact only NOW, when the sensation has been around for almost 2 months now!

I think not having a unibody and the ability to replace the outer shell is a God send, especially if you damage it. This allows you to restore your treasured phone back to its original condition. This approach should be commended not criticised.

is this article a joke? I have the Sensation, part of the back shell is made out of one piece of aluminum, as the picture on the right show. Other parts of the back shell are plastic with a nice soft feel.

You can take the phone out, it's like a shell. What's left are the phone's inner components. you need to slide it in the back shell, it clicks itself in place (very high end and firm click :-) )

You end up with a very tough phone, no creaks, no plastic feel at all.

This has been known for weeks. So I really don;t understand this article.

What i don't understand is HOW A FAMOUS WEBSITE LIKE GSMARENA can post articles like this? It's well known since the device got "hands-on" videos that it is NOT an unibody. It is like a shell, the whole back it's removable including the front grill that protects the ear headphone (or whatever it's called). I'm sure the guys at gsmarena knew theese details but are posting this ...i can't think why, maybe because it's the kind of article that makes people wanting to open it. What i am trying to say is that yesterday i saw an unboxing of the device that was made by a romanian website, and they didn't look surprised that it isn't an unibody device but you do...where is the big surprise? That htc lied? that's not a surprise at all...

What I'm really interested in with this phone is how it compares to the Galaxy S2 in terms of:
                    - Wireless printing functionality
                    - Photo quality
                    - Video (stabilizer, zooming while recording)
                    - Audio quality incl. speaker
                    - Display quality (incl. how accurate the touchscreen is)
                    - UI smoothness

the pic showing is the whole back with the front earpiece at the top. so they probably unscrew the phone and took out the components.

umm. who cares? still a great phone, enjoy it and stop looking for little defects. if you don't want to buy it, don't buy.

The phone is basically a back panel and a screen. So I guess it's unibody www.engadget.com/photos/htc-sensation-unboxing-and-hardware-overview/#4160373

I think if you remove the plastic parts from the back cover it will look like the picture on htc site. though I think we all are expecting a unibody like the desire line.

I'd rather like to know why the screen is advertised as "S-LCD" when it's clearly inferior to the S-LCD of the Incredible S.

As others mentioned, the back cover is the unibody. Just look at the HTC Desire HD, Mozart and legend. When you remove the screen and internals from the front what is left exactly matches what is the Sensation's back cover. Observe before posting news, and hounding HTC geez
